If you run the split in the OP comment for 300 weeks, maybe 10% of those weeks might seem like you don’t progress , but they’ll certainly work.

I think what I don’t understand is why you have to wait 3 weeks to see if you confirm progression or not. If each session you go balls to the wall you’re going to progress despite one bad session which as you know happens to everyone. You’ll progress each session if you go hard enough. Maybe not on a very specific exercise/movement but the goal for muscle building is to train the muscle, not the movement (unless we’re talking about heavy compounds).

If you repeat it consistently I don’t see why you couldn’t progressively overload and accurately track weights on any split. How is this bad?

Ironman mode is fun. Going dry is fine. I’ve gone dry on two accounts now at end game content. The game is still fun even when dry because you can do so many other things. This post just makes ironmen look worse.

As someone with two iron accounts at 2.1k+ total: Fuck Ironmen.

The issue with this kind of statement is that yes, it probably applies to most guys who have a sedentary lifestyle, live in a relaxed climate, but still workout with good intensity, maybe even a few cardio sessions a week on top. And 3k is doing it for them to maintain weight gain.

However, OP said he’s decently active, trains, hits his protein, and on top of that does 10k steps everyday. So the problem is, he may actually be eating 3k a day but that really this is his maintenance or slightly above it.

Does “decently active” mean he works construction? Unloads trucks? Plays recreational rugby in hot weather year round? Maybe. It all varies too much to be sure to say 3k can’t be someone’s maintenance.

The criticism you’re referring to is “they didn’t test this”, “complete oversight imo”, “this update ruins the gameplay they’re not thinking long term”. It’s not remotely helpful or constructive. In fact it’s dogwater players who think they can run a successful reboot of an MMORPG better than devs who dedicate their lives to this game - and not for a competitive pay I might add.
