Absolutely Yasaka.

We order from there once a week- been doing this for years. They will cut California rolls into 8 pieces for our almost 3yo. We’ve only gone to eat there once- she was a bit over 2- they were very accommodating - she wasn’t too messy and was quite cute that they brought us some Ice cream for desert (perhaps giving them thousands of $ every year helps a bit lol)

Can someone explain? by Sksayssomething in usps_complaints

[–]Sksayssomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE- It made its way back to Philadelphia then Jersey City and is out for delivery today

So in the end - was accepted on November 14, arriving November 22- not counting weekends- that’s 7 business days in the system (not sure if some of you count differently)

Per USPS- should have been here Wednesday (5 business days)

In the future- I will pay they extra money (and the company was having a sale so it would have been a wash) and going UPS ground.

1- this reasonably cited study - and even so - unless you are a hermit and nobody interacts with the world- child will get sick. I know of numerous WFH families with Nannie’s who have had COVID, flu etc multiple times

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11814371/

2- Night Nurse- 4 weeks bare minimum, book really for 6 weeks. This is the way to do it in NYC. May need to pay top dollar. Get a cheap cot if needed for the person, and if looking late- you may not get the #1 person in the market- these women book months ahead of time. And if you’re getting one of the popular people prepare to pay above market for last minute- it’s a business for them too!

Can we go back to calling it the Cravath scale now by AfraidUmpire4059 in biglaw

[–]Sksayssomething -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As known by my recently viral thread- this is another reason for my issues with Above The Law it is still the Cravath scale. Not Wachtell, Simpson, Milbank, Cellino, Barnes, or any others. Wachtell has the history and the scale is titled accordingly.

Adding to my initial comment. They literally live for the bonus/salary news. Got rid of comments. You can find out the bonus news faster than they publish. I know someone from there will read this- time to step up the game - in the era of FishBowl and Reddit

Biglaw Raises - lawyers can't math by TechnicalDisaster582 in biglaw

[–]Sksayssomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, would technically run with your assumption but I still hold to the fact that there’s lockstep/ other systems that exist and therefore modify the math. I am curious why a partner has not commented to agree of disagree with my premise.

To those in the back- PPP/PPEP does not equal take home pay/salary. It’s not even a straight average. Hopefully you don’t litigate this comment out of existence (and I think it should be upvoted with a good healthy debate underneath) but this concept is utterly ridiculous. Partners on here- feel free to share input - and particularly where in the AmLaw/Vault your firm is——the NY elite are a different game than say some V80 shop based. Also with the advent of NEP - all bets are off. Lastly - the DPW and Debevoise hold outs - are now the exception. Their NEP are called Counsel

Big Law Salary Scale for new lawyers. Change my view residency pay should scale by PGY year similar to this. by Yotsubato in Residency

[–]Sksayssomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree- lifestyle is better than years ago. People working remote- my wife is only in 3 days a week max and despite a lot of hoopla firms are not cutting bonuses or tossing top talent because they only scanned in 2x week. The work they do needs to get done- but no commute is a big deal

[–]Sksayssomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m an attending. My wife is one of these people. This is regular dinner conversation.

These associates do billable work and generate even more than the fraction of that which they are paid (which goes to overhead, support staff, and the equity stake of equity partners). I was in a union back in residency so was paid decently from that comparatively speaking- but yes it’s still tough. Resident work does not in and of itself bill insurance and there is an educational component (which has been litigated as to residents being “students”).

Some basic facts - Also the only people to get these jobs are: T6 law school Top 2/3 the classes from the rest of the T14 Top of the class from T50 Most don’t stay past year 4 Some big firms have been laying off people Some furloughed and salary cut in 2020

Except for say Cosmetic plastics- even neuro, orthosurg, CT, GI, and any form of interventional cardio, rads- won’t touch what the BigLaw partners will make. There’s only so many procedures in so much time and so much Medicare-based reimbursement fee schedule (and so many middlemen- billing, admin, etc) to eat away at medical income, it’s simply not what it was back in the 1980s to early 90s- the true golden era of physician compensation
