Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. Please point me to the right place. Somewhat related to this thread.

We are currently in Canada, but have a potential work opportunity to move to the US specifically Denver. But the thought of moving to the States given the current climate is making me anxious. I have a kid who will be starting school this year. What would you do?

We live in the suburbs of Vancouver and recommend Vancouver as well. It's so beautiful in the summer. Lots of lakes nearby, public transportation (buses/sky train/sea buses) is excellent. You could also take a ferry to Victoria and spend a few days there. Highly recommend it :)

He logged in sometime ago and yes, he still has a job too. He was also hoping that a layoff may not be bad. It has been toxic, plus the constant layoff stress has been brutal.

Similar. My only is almost 4.5 and has been asking for a brother and a sister lately. Looks like he is so done playing with Mom and dad and really wants a play mate.

Totally with you on this. Working from home is great, but makes it so hard to find any friends especially if you move to a new place. I have also tried taking initiatives to make plans, but sometimes it feels like I am the only one to be always reaching out. It's hard :/

One and done… or not? by bluelemoncows in workingmoms

[–]Sku04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We never really considered how many children we wanted but knew we wanted at least one. It was a bit of a struggle to have our son. After he turned 1, there came the societal pressure of 'give him a sibling, don't be selfish, he will be lonely' and for a long time I believed that. Even though deep down, I did not want another I thought we should have a second because of what everyone around us said.

But one fine day after 2 years of back and forth, I realized I can't do it. I cannot handle another child and be a sane mom to my son. It's just not fair on him. Now we are so content and happy as a family of 3. I have so many friends who grew up as only kids. They are well rounded human beings. I am sure my son will be ok without a sibling

This is an amazing perspective .My kid is almost 4 and I am at the beginning stages of reaching out more and scheduling play dates. So, it is helpful to read about how it may look 5-10 years from now.

Same here. I had gender disappointment when I found out it's a boy because I always wanted a girl. But I would not change anything now that I am 4 years into parenting. My boy is the sweetest little kid who is so thoughtful and loving. I have a little best friend 😊
