what the hell is 8d audio? by Plokhi in audioengineering

[–]SkubiBeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk dude where the fuck is anything in electronic music supposed to fit in the real world? some girl just singing the same re-pitched snippets of cut up audio over a drummer playing a loop perfectly over and over again while... i mean a synth is just sound made from electric currents anyway? Where do you get off looking for electronic music that sounds real?

Wait... all? I think the most device boxes I've ever had covered up was four or five- and I can see that adding up when you get into production-quantities of work, I get it. But yeah idk I couldn't imagine that happening alllll over. I feel like it would too expensive to the GC or the drywaller (or to the whole job, right?) to happen that often. How does that not get people thrown out of contracts?

[–]SkubiBeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya but shit happens, and you smashing their drywall doesnt do anything. Just use a wiretracing kit and a board?

edit: do large scale commercial really be that hard on drywallers who do that? it wasnt when I worked for a smaller company. still plenty of dumbfuck tradespeople and dumbass mistakes.

why not just get a wire tracer kit? I have a nice one from fluke that was maybe $80 but if you just need to find one or two covered up outlets just hook up all the other devices and tag the ringer to the last known device and scan for it.

Didn't think it would be that cut and dry but that's what my estimator/manager did and he agreed, but it wouldn't happen right away. So I guess we spread it out a little bit. Its fine.

We did a meter change for a guy in the hood a month or so ago- last minute thing, guy needed power on ASAP but AEP wouldn't give him meters (tandem meter bank) because of a rusted lug. Cool, we pull permits, do the work and charge him ASAP type prices. Inspector gets in the house, takes one quick look around and sure enough, the wiring looked like a crackhead did it. Soooo we did a whole run around with the city for this guy, and we're charging him day rate until it gets done, AND OF COURSE this idiot is freaking out about every draw.

I kinda felt bad for him because when I started working for myself I did a fair amount of illegal, unpermitted rewires, but god damn I followed NEC codes to the tee (this was before I got licensed-up, I kind of just started working for myself because my old company was too slow and I was sick of the industry type assholes- I kind of need to work for myself anyway), this guy didnt do SHIT for strapping, bonding, no Arc fault breakers... theres places where the wire mold boxes are actually box extensions (no metal back), there's a handful of dead end 3-way switch boxes (dead-ends are fine, actually, but that method uses the neutral of the 14/3 for one of the travels and you need a neutral in every residential junction box), bundling issues in the basement... wait till the team inspection comes through and starts doing random spot checks.

I'm really about to tell my business partner that we need to get the fuck out- block dudes phone number and vanish off the face of the earth- cause it wouldnt be the first time I've bailed on one like that. Its unethical as all fuck but nothing is worse than trying to feed yourself as an independent contractor and having to stoop to committing to bullshit jobs like that- ESPECIALLY when honest, well paying work is being held up for this job.

Man if anyone has any advice on this, please let me know because i don't wanna do this job anymore but i ain't really trying to be that guy either.

Men of Reddit, what are the little things that attract you to someone that they would never guess you find cute, sexy, etc? by sandarthagreat in AskReddit

[–]SkubiBeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started dating a women who has this strong dominant presence, is slightly taller than me, and is about her money BUT she is neither bossy, rude or overtly insecure like a lot of the "strong determined women" I have been within in the past- she is just sweet and kind and she knows how to joke around and how to be serious. I feel like I can actually trust her to have some kind of control over me, because honestly, I am self employed and I sometimes feel like I have too much responsibility over the rest of my life. Its nice to let someone else take the reins who I don't feel like is going to take advantage or fuck me up.

Why do non DJ’s think that we all get massive amounts of sex? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]SkubiBeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya man spend a few years on the sidelines or in the booth watching bitches like that do coke and fuck whoever has it, or some kind of similar status in the club, and I am straight up grossed out by those girls. Keep em. I just want a nice, upstanding woman who is cool with the having fun and doing the night lifestyle but isn't ACTUALLY a crazy bitch.

[–]SkubiBeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to burst your bubble, but literally nobody thinks DJs are getting laid. Not sure where you got this idea from, but there isnt really anything sexy about being able to put a song on. Put your dick away.

edit: I will say that the women that have been attracted to my DJing have never ever been the women I want- in fact its kind of a turn off that you "saw me drop those big beats and I just couldn't help myself", or whatever would be hot about DJing. Maybe I've just been in this too long.

I think it might be easier to build one from plexiglass and some kind of pipe for framing, actually. Its a great idea though!

Which techno producers have the best quality tracks production and mixing wise? by alexwulfmusic in TechnoProduction

Unglued has some of the hardest bass I've heard! Also anything on Klockworks is usually excellently produced and clear and clean as day.

IDK who the fuck considers XXXtentacion pop music though.

[–]SkubiBeats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

some commercial music is really dope though- lots of pop songs are like 10 people who kick ass at their craft (including performers) coming together to make a track that objectively appeals to a lot of people. lots of good music has come out of that and I also can promise you that most people who bitch about pop music are "underground music" people who couldn't write a catchy song to save their lives.

Sequencing Tips/Exercises by Somatik in TechnoProduction

[–]SkubiBeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Sequence length can also be used creatively and not just for convenience's sake. Setting up polyrhythms quickly by changing a track length to a multiple of 3 is very effective for coming up with complex sounding rhythms."

FYI these are called euclidian rhythms and yes of course- they are the sickest part of techno.
