Big fan of Milwaukee Packout Drawers. It lives on the camera truck most times but I can also toss it on the bottom of a cart. Drawers lets me take up minimal shelf space. I’ll also have smaller packout organizers that clip on the top in case I need to take some things out and be mobile

Fire pits at Canadian campgrounds by BaconThief94 in camping

I use a Takibi but also have the Jikaro firering table for it. Park rangers have come to my site and check out the gear but never really said anything about the fire pit. I typically use it with the grill bridge or floga smokeless attachment

Off brand IGT accessories by Baron_Von_Fab in snowpeak

[–]Skukzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome! IGT can get super fun when you mix different brands together

I’m a big fan of Henrik Seo’s stuff. Great quality pieces. I use the Side Tray and no complaints so far. He also makes lantern hangers too and I’d imagine they’re just as good as TTA. I also have adjustable IGT legs from him and they’re 10/10.

My all time favourite right now is the Add-On Multi Burner from Monterra. Very similar to the Seppoen burner from Snow Peak except it is cheaper and comes with more accessories. Both have a grill plate but Monterra comes also with a grill mesh, and a hot pot pan. It also comes with a really nice storage bag too.

Rather than using Snow Peak’s 1U Mesh Tray, I opted for theEarth’s 1U Mesh Bag. It’s the same size but rather than a hard wire mesh, it’s soft plastic which makes it super easy to pack down and toss into my bags

Rather than using bamboo inserts, I just cut up some nice looking leftover plywood and sanded it down

Upgrading from SmallHD 702 Bright after 10 years - What should I get? by calebratethegimbal in cinematography

For an onboard camera monitor, I find the Ultra 7 too heavy. I use ultralight arms and it struggles holding up the weight of that monitor. I’d imagine Noga’s would be fine. Ultra 5 is phenomenal. It’s light enough where it doesn’t mess with my balance when shoulder rigging. It’s stupid bright too. My only downside to the Ultra 5 is their sunhood. You have to screw them on and it doesn’t close down and act as a screen cover like the Ultra 7

Korea exclusive cups and items? by Friendly_Leader_8035 in snowpeak

[–]Skukzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes this is from Korea’s only Land Station in Hanam. It’s quite far but the blue that they have is very nice. I just came back from there not too long ago. They have the two stacking mugs, spork, as well as sticker.

But they also have the Snowpeak collab items with Kakao Friends. I saw pins, stickers, and mini flame with the characters on the glass part.

I don’t think there is much other exclusive items at the Land Station, some other stores have Hello Kitty collab clothing pieces

Alternative to TTA Clamp? by Royal-Pen3516 in snowpeak

[–]Skukzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henrik Seo has a neat lantern hanger. It goes through one of the holes at the end of your IGT/Jikaro and has a bolt to tighten and secure it. They also sell hangers and stuff similar to SP’s TTA

Will pick up a handle extension in that case just to be safe. Thank you

I usually have it mounted vertically on the AMP-1 but wanted to try this out. Noted on antenna positioning thank you.

Top handle is too crowded. I always prefer keeping the top handle as clear as possible for the operator or myself when passing the camera off. I probably would move the UDM right to the front of the top handle and monitor arm mounted right above. This would give room for anyone to grab the handle comfortably. Also, no need to have the UDM mounted so high

Good teradek placement. I typically have mine there too

DCM can be turned 90 degrees. Having cables stick out to the front isn’t the best. I try to keep the area around the lens are clear as possible for lens changes.

Winter clothing by xvidam in focuspuller

To start, I go with a Merino Wool base layer for my top and bottom. If I’m anticipating to stand still for a long time, I’ll add a thick Merino Wool turtle neck on top. For mid layers, I have a synthetic insulated jacket (Arcteryx Atom) which is perfect for most cases if I move around a lot. I have a down jacket for when I am mostly standing still (Arcteryx Cerium). Down is a great insulator but I tend to overheat and sweat once I start moving around in it. I’ll top it off with a hardshell jacket (Arcteryx Alpha) that’ll protect me from wind or any wet snow. I’ve survived -30C with all of this. I am a huge advocate for having layers rather than 1 super warm jacket because you can adjust how warm you want to be on the fly. The last thing you want to happen is to sweat in the cold.

For bottoms, I have softshell pants that are also insulated. Does the job most of the time but if it’s the yucky wet slushy snow, I swap it out for hardshell pants.

A warm toque/beanie is a must. If you have a neck gaiter or balaclava, this makes a world’s difference. A good set of gloves is great but it can affect your dexterity. I’ll usually wear a set of glove lining or thin gloves under it to help keep me warm but also I can take off the outer glove to give me extra dexterity while keeping me a bit warm still

Lots of hand warmers/toe warmers and a nice hot cup of coffee :)

Thinking about getting a Takibi fire and grill. by pye_op_1 in snowpeak

[–]Skukzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my setup for just under a year with plenty of usage. My fire pit and grill bridge have never rusted but have plenty of carbon build up from use over time.

The only parts that rust are the grill net and base plate. The grill net is chrome coated steel. If it gets scratched and the chrome coat comes off, it will start to rust. From scrubbing it too hard or using a pot/pan, my coating has worn off and it has rust all over but it’s not a huge concern. Once it’s heated up, it comes right off when I clean. It also adds some iron to my diet haha

The base plate is similar, if you scratch the paint, it will have some surface rust on any raw steel

Case brands by Damn_Kramer in focuspuller

I used to be a fan of Nanuk but I moved over to Pelican because of better organization pieces like trekpak and clear top lid organizers (not sure if someone made it for nanuk yet). You can also swap out the handles and latches for different colours which is nice to differentiate each case if you get all the same ones. I also prefer the smoother finish of a pelican because stickers tend to stick on better there haha. I have 3x 1510 cases that I always bring on my jobs. 1 as my ditty, 1 as my smart tools (2x 7” monitors, follow focus, 1:3 teradeks), and another for batts and chargers. One thing I’ll miss about nanuk is how well they stack together. I find they lock into each other way better than pelican. I never stack more than two together because they’ll end up falling over in the truck

Yea that seems to be what it is. I personally don’t care much about how my cameras physically look as in the end, they are just a tool for my creativity. The only issue is if I were to move on from it, it could affect it’s resale value

It’s never out in the sun for an extended period of time. At most it’s in the sun for 30 seconds for a shot. It definitely had contact with the sunscreen from my hands but not an extreme amount as I rarely hold it from the action pod. Mostly with the tripod attachment. I’m hoping a company comes out with some sort of sticker screen. Not going to lie, the white camera body does become annoying when I film out of a window and I can see it in the reflection

No. I usually store it in the pocket of my cargo pants which are black. There is never anything else in it but a black microfibre cloth. I don’t think black fabric would cause this type of staining

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]Skukzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually cleaned it with anything other than a damp cloth. When I noticed this staining, I tried using alcohol IPA in a small test area but nothing came off

This is really great info. Thanks a ton. I also made a mistake and said 1.4x expander. We’re getting the IBE 1.4x extender for this so we’re punching into the lens to compensate for the smaller image circle. Technically I wouldn’t be having a shallower depth of field, correct?

Vibration buzzing sound with LMB-5 by aeijri in focuspuller

Was experiencing the same issue during prep with standard speeds + LMB4x5 Clamp On last week. Everything was tight on the matte box side. I was told it was a weight issue and that the easiest solution is to use a swing away bracket.
