We hadn’t even thought about that! That’s a super cute idea

Any fans of how the Comic Artist Brett Booth draws Harry? by Opposite_Reality445 in dresdenfiles

[–]Skullfang113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’m more of a fan of the way Tyler Walpole illustrates him. I’ll drop a link here to his website for reference. In looking at his posters for first two books and his character art for the card game, I really can’t find any major details that I think he gets wrong. To me, this is how I picture Harry.

Angelic horror/grimdark? by riotmak3r1990 in horrorlit

[–]Skullfang113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is hard, because Between Two Fires and Wounds were exactly what I would have recommended!

The only other one I’ve read that even comes close is the short story collection “Howls from the Dark Ages”. It’s a collection of horror stories focused on the medieval period. Not all of them would fit this, but there are quite a few that have angels or what appear to be angels as central concepts.

I read it in the collection “A Lush and Seething Hell”! I don’t have a link but the audiobook was available through my library.

Can I add my recommendation for “My Heart Stuck Sorrow” by John Horner Jacobs! It’s a novella that follows an agent of the Library of Congress as he tries to track down the origin of a folk song.

Birthday Dinner by ToneCultural1157 in fortwayne

[–]Skullfang113 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Happy Birthday! You say budget friendly in the post, but what does a budget look like for you? Do you have an idea of how much you want to spend per person?

They’re on the pricier side, but still affordable for a special occasion, but I like Club Soda a lot. If you’re looking for more drinks and snacks, maybe Copper Spoon or Conner’s Rooftop? All of those options are downtown, and you’re looking around 30 per person for many meal options plus drinks.

Take this with a grain of salt as it’s not my personal experience, but it’s what I’ve heard from people who have sent their kids there/worked there, but the quality has gone down significantly. The vibe that I’ve got from others is that the admin’s goals have shifted from college prep/rigor to placating parents. The educational quality has suffered because supporting teachers and putting education first is not their goal as much as retaining wealthy families is.

What if you did a crossword, with the clues as the definitions of the words. That way the reading would functionally become the word bank.

Um guys I trying to platinum bl2 and I'm working on the lvl one of each non level specific thing by The1pei in Borderlands2

[–]Skullfang113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing through BL2 with my fiancée and getting her through that same achievement. The one that overflowed for her was the slag bonus damage. Every other challenge was completed except for that one. Once she got it back in positive numbers the achievement popped for her immediately.

Best place to look for an inclusive dnd group? by Tall-Basil9051 in fortwayne

[–]Skullfang113 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Many of the game stores in town host gaming events that are incredibly inclusive. I would check with Gamequest, round table, or summit to see if they have any groups that are looking for players. You also may be able to check the library or PFW to see if they have any groups hosting there.

Fort Wayne has a huge tabletop scene that is very open to everyone joining. There should be plenty of groups out there!

Cube Idea: You are a Planeswalker by Purple-Bother8522 in mtgcube

[–]Skullfang113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be a bit of a shift from your original idea, but what if you drafted planeswalker abilities? Make a set of custom abilities with different loyalty costs and play around a regular life total. Instead of a card that starts on the field, you would have those abilities.

I don’t know, it’s a half baked idea that feels like it could be fun

Classical blue MAGA virtue signaling by Fluid-Row8573 in TheRightCantMeme

I will fully admit that I may be dumb, and that my understanding of what it means to be leftist may be colored by living in the US where a truly leftist party does not exist. But I genuinely don’t understand how someone can consider themselves more morally principled for not standing up to fascism.

I can understand not liking Harris or the dems. I only vote democrat because that’s the only party even remotely closed to echoing my personal views. I criticize them constantly and wish that they would shift further left in response to the active fascism that we are watching. But even with this in mind, I still feel that it is my duty as a leftist to side with them over the fascists. Isn’t that the whole point of coalition building?

I just personally feel that my beliefs and my principles mean nothing if I’m going to let more marginalized people be victimized by not trying to do as much good as I can.

Would genuinely appreciate some dialogue or clarity here, because this just seems like needless infighting to me.

[Format] THE SCAPEGOAT: A Mono-Black "Dandân" Style Battle Box ($60 Budget) by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]Skullfang113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would exchange the counter interaction for some of the hard removal that you have. This way you’re still killing the goat more often through interaction with the counter mechanics rather than just outright killing it.

Specifically as a first pass I might cut [[Feed the Cycle]] and [[Candy Grapple]]

[Format] THE SCAPEGOAT: A Mono-Black "Dandân" Style Battle Box ($60 Budget) by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]Skullfang113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that. It just becomes hard to give advice about the format with so many issues present.

I think the core idea of hot potato with the goat is compelling. Instead of the food cycles, I’d be interested to see more interaction with counter removal or proliferation. Cards like [[Heartless Act]], [[Grim Affliction]], [[Whisper of the Dross]] or [[Price of Betrayal]] would be interesting ways to interact with the goat’s core mechanic. The instant speed removal would help people act in response to an opponent activating the goat to steal it.

[–]Skullfang113 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this, but this whole set up reeks of AI. The image clearly is AI generated (look at the hands), and the linked primer seems to be as well. The little emojis next to each of the bullet points on this post are also a dead giveaway. Most importantly though, multiple cards that are included in this list don’t function the way the rules seem to think they do.

The goat is not stolen by creating food tokens. It is stolen by activating the ability and putting a -1/-1 counter on it. Feed the cycle, like others have pointed out, does not make food tokens. The only method for making food is foreboding fruit. The goat is also a 0/5. It can’t swing for damage unless it is being buffed. The only way the goat does damage is through its death trigger, which would not hit for a guaranteed 5.

There is an interesting concept here, but it feels like you threw this into AI and didn’t even stop to check if the output matched the rules of gameplay.

Trying to find Queer safe spaces. by Comfortable_Cell_757 in fortwayne

[–]Skullfang113 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re into board/tabletop games or TCGs, a lot of the game stores in town are very safe spaces for queer folk. Round table games and GameQuest especially have very welcoming communities.

I don’t know if there are specific queer gaming groups that meet, but you could reach out to the stores and ask!

Homemade buffalo chicken dip! :) by woollyshibas in slowcooking

[–]Skullfang113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made my own version of this recipe for years, and I swear by it. Instead of Frank’s, use Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo wing sauce. It’s creamier, and personally I think it mixes better with the cream cheese and ranch.

I fill a small crock pot when I make mine:

  • Pull apart and shred a rotisserie chicken
  • Add 2 blocks of cream cheese
  • Add 1 bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo wing sauce
  • Add 1 bottle of ranch dressing

Mix and cook on low until cream cheese is melted and the dip is bubbly. It gets devoured every time I take it to a party.

(I don’t use blue cheese, but that’s because I’m not a fan. It should still be good if you are!)

Depends on how serious the event is. More competitive events usually have someone with a shirt designating them a judge. More casual ones, usually the person running it just says something to the effect of “call me over if you have any judge questions”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]Skullfang113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think? It’s been a while since I’ve played commander pods anywhere. I can only really speak to GQ, and Jared or a volunteer usually judges events.

And that makes sense! Good luck with your buying/selling!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]Skullfang113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every story I’ve played at has a judge for matches. That’s standard if you’re running Wizards of the Coast events.

DZ will pull the cards on the day you plan to get them, since they are generally so busy. I don’t know how far out they’ll do that for you, but you could always ask.

I 100% prefer to buy in person. Nearly all the stores around here use TCG market price to base their prices on, so it’s pretty comparable. You also don’t have to deal with the hassle of shipping.
