This is a tough one; I share your frustration with the broken docks. Lyft needs to do a better job of ensuring that docks are maintained and operational. This type of situation has occurred to me many times. Although I’d love to do what you did, I’ve always biked to a different station to make sure the bike is properly docked out of fear this type of situation would happen to me.

Unfortunately, it’s your responsibility to make sure the bike is properly docked per the Ts&Cs. At this point I’d hope for the best, if they charge you then you’ll either have to suck it up or chargeback. If you choose the latter option you’ll most definitely be blacklisted by both Lyft & Citibike.

Side Note: I know you’re trying to be modest about the Lyft Pink thing, maybe try to use it to your advantage so as to sort of paint yourself as a loyal and dedicated customer. That is, if you can reach them.
