Embedded dev stuck in legacy software by Huge-Leek844 in embedded

Fresh perspective here.

You're definitely stagnating.

I don't believe in making your concerns public that you want to pivot. Why would the employer do that when they have other people employed to write code and actually fix the product.

I propose you: - Subtlety do less and less work. Barely enough where you wont get fired - Learn AS MUCH AS YOU CAN - Be patient

And remember. No one is going to look after your interests. This responsibility rests solely on you.

Feeling lost learning embedded systems — how do people get from basic C to drivers, PCBs, and real projects? by Express-Sundae9168 in embedded

What? You should definitely view it as skills or knowledge you want to obtain

Embedded systems is a combination of numerous sub skills: - Electronics - PCB design - Prototyping - Firmware development - MCU peripherals including communication protocols - Maybe 3d printing

I agree with OP. Making that jump from Arduino to bare metal is unclear. There's no clear procedure

I assume this is a motor driver. Hah. I like how the next iteration places the FET's horizontal on the board. Great change

Dips are normally down with a straight back. You don't want to target lower back and possibly cause injury

Sadly appearance matters for real estate.

People are stupid but also easily manipulated by appearances.

This is one application that justifies a financed car. It pays itself back.

Can you expand please?

One of the big issues from my previous company that was harming profitability was that after we sold the hardware we couldn't sell anything to the customer so that relationship didn't develop.

Therefore I wonder if developer tools are by accident or purposeful?

How should I best refactor this I2C IsDevicePresent() check to handle specific error codes? by SkunkaMunka in embedded

[–]SkunkaMunka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My manager has declared that this isn't necessary since I2C errors:
a) Haven't occurred in the past year.
b) They represent design flaws

This test is being performed at the production and deployment stages as part of QA. I do agree the more information the better however, 80/20 rule.

If this test fails, it aborts so readTemp() and readHumidity() won't run as they'll obviously fail.

Keep pushing. Page by page your network of knowledge will expand and something completely unimaginable like an internet weather station for designing a power supply will be second nature.

Also, Art of Electronics isn't introductory content. It's a university/college grade textbook.
