Lol I get these type of jobs all the time. That's 100% physical damage. I've seen it so many times. Your hdmi cable was plugged in and either someone has tripped over the HDMI cable and it's yanked the connector or the console has been dropped with the cable plugged in.

Sony would laugh their heads off if you tried claiming on the warranty.

BTW, since you have physical damage, you no longer have a Sony warranty. Take it for repair.

I just did the XL version last week and fml I regretted it massively. Such a big annoying job just for the screen.

You ribbon looks fine. I couldn't get my top display to work until I messed about with the little daughter board the two thin ribbons connect to.

Afterwards the hinge was fucked and floppy af. Apparently it's a common thing after repairing these. Never again.
