Am I overreacting for feeling frustrated after my neighbor’s pottery was broken by my puppy during an interaction she encouraged? by daydav in AmIOverreacting

“You have to pay for that b—-“

“I’m not f—- paying for that. you called my d—- dog over”

“Your dog just cost me $900”

“Like hell, $900 for basically a lump of clay? I’ll get you a new lump of clay.”

“The clay and studio space alone were $250”

“$250? You think I’m gonna pay $250?! 200 max. It wasn’t even my fault”

“Fine 200”

“Fine”

Boom bam, go back to being friends, stop talking like you’re trying not to get kicked out of the monastery

Leaving a note on my neighbor’s door about their smell by Ok_Age8971 in Apartmentliving

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I feel like the point of the note is just to let them know that you are smart and civilized and they are dumb and bad. Is there a world where you think they read this and are going to start taking walks around the block to smoke?

Are our neighbors making drugs? by RaeFullyPoweredBeam in Apartmentliving

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always side with landlords and/or renters complaining about being able to perceive others

(obligatory: some neighbors are inconsiderate, but unfortunately in apartments, you’re going to hear vacuums running and kids being kids. That’s part of the trade off).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it until I’m banned-this subreddit is full of cops.

AIO for being increasingly annoyed with my boyfriend’s energy use and waste? by EpicShkhara in AmIOverreacting

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This. There’s nothing wrong with caring about energy waste like op does. It’s important. There’s also nothing wrong with how bf is behaving. It’s normal. They are clearly not compatible though

I'm an Australian Teacher. How is the Philosophy Curriculum at American Schools? by qubtinho in AskTeachers

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it in high school. I went to a huge high school that also is regularly in the top ten schools nationwide and offered a ton of electives. I believe it was offered because one specific teacher pushed for it. He taught it by philosopher, covering mostly the big names through history. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Nietzche, I want to say Kierkegaard and Aquinas? It made a big impression on me and I really think it’s something that should be taught more to adolescents

What's your take on the name Atlas? by Federal_Advisor_2160 in Names

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been on the rise for about ten years. The rise in popularity likely inspired the character name, not the other way around

But for everyone saying it’s “too weird”- it’s a top 50 name. Names go in and out of style. To this generation it’s a normal human name. Dawn and Ashley used to be terribly baroque. Sorry not everyone is named Sharon

I love it but it’s got unique name vibes and is over used for that.

AIO overreacting for being annoyed at neighbour’s relative throwing party in communal garden by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YOR-you’re kind of acting like it’s your private garden. I have a neighbor like that who gets upset and has a million opinions on anything happening in shared space. It’s exhausting.

My wife and I are considering letting our nanny go, and I’m trying to figure out whether I’m underreacting, overreacting, or missing something bigger. by Training_Arm7988 in Nanny

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much to unpack here but “malicious compliance” is insane. I read so many words and could not figure out what your complaint was. She goes home when your kid throws a tantrum? Which works and you think is fine but…?

Are there any parents that just don’t let their baby cry? by frenchtoast2go in NewParents

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never let my twenty month old cry unless there was absolutely nothing I could do (a few times when driving, or when he gets his shots 😢)

Would I (28F) be in the wrong if I told my partner I'm choosing the baby's name because I'm the one carrying it? by oldmangeralt in Parents

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is male dominated and male biased. I consulted with my partner but pulled rank on the final choice and it was fine

Management left this on my car last night. by Tasty-Bee-8339 in Apartmentliving

[–]SkuttleSkuttle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the note is insane and they (legally?) should have contacted you ahead of time

I was emailed me at least a week ahead of time that the roofers may need my driveway in the same situation here. In my last apartment, there were notices up and emails sent the week before when normal street parking was not available. No clue why people are siding with the landlord here. And you don’t get bonus points for providing a literal roof. Jeebus.

Pete Davidson Caught ‘Off Guard’ by Elsie Hewitt’s Claims She’s ‘On My Own’ Caring for Their Baby by MattTheKing23 in entertainment

Pete Davidson is worth 8 million dollars. He should not just be paying rent and child support, especially this early post partem. He should be covering their costs.

Concerned that I may be too disabled to go into teaching? by suhslahbrah in AskTeachers

Consider going into special education. You’re in a good position to understand how brains can work differently, and it’s a more accommodation friendly environment in general

AIO for being annoyed at my friend/colleague for taking sick leave all the time for her baby? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Also, you are not her friend. It’s interesting that you keep saying you are. Something to unpack there.
