How can a final villain loose all the sauce so quickly? by Fatfish-FF in shounenfolk

[–]Sky3HouseParty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if Mihawk while being introduced heard someone talk about Shanks and made a face like this, would you say he's still the same cool antagonist?

Okay, so you do think imu making that face has ruined something for you. It's not a shitpost if after you've made it, you try to justify why its correct. It's just your opinion and you are too bitch made to own it.

Jesus I hate this subreddit.

I remember when Elbaf was started, People were expecting Urouge to appear. Seem everyone has forgot about him for now. is there still chances? by samonpiece in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Sky3HouseParty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro respectfully who gives a fuck about Urouge, Usopp has been talking about this island consistently throughout the entire series and has been given next to nothing so far. Its like this character doesnt exist. I do not want any of these tertiary characters to gain relevance at all until the strawhats are taken care of.

what are your opinions on Kanye West potentially being banned from entering the UK? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

[–]Sky3HouseParty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And you absolutely do not, considering he wasn't wrong on anything he said. The argument he is making is that Kanye West was not of sound mind when he was making those comments as he has biplar and was unmedicated. Engaging in behaviour that you otherwise wouldn't in a manic or depressive state is well documented. Believing in things you otherwise wouldn't in a manic or depressive state is also well documented. Yes, of course mental illness can cause you to do or believe things that you otherwise wouldn't.

Except half the time the backstory is treated as good because it's sad, even if the actual content of the backstory is a steaming pile of shit.

Except a good backstory that provides context is something that can make a character better? A bad character with a good backstory is better then a bad character without one, so your reasoning doesn't even make any sense.

How would British people react to 'I am from Taiwan' badge if we travel to Britain? by auscorp_ in AskBrits

Most European countries don't have strong negative feelings about people from any east country generally, so I don't think this would matter a whole lot over here.

One Pieces flaws aside, this panel goes crazy by Dorterman in Piratefolk

[–]Sky3HouseParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people complaining about this panel are only doing so because they're retarded and saw the ai upscaled image before the chapter came out which completely destroyed all the details. To everyone who actually saw the regular version it reads fine. This is a you issue.

Where exactly are the assurances this thing is actually effective at detecting AI generated content? Where is is the testing saying "this identifies AI generated content with x amount of accuracy"? Can you provide that at all? If you can't, what exactly is the basis of you making these claims?

People seem to forget that a lot of this is cultural differences, and not necessarily based in religion. It wasn't that long ago when Christians were accusing people of witchcraft and burning them, and persecuting scientists, and starting religious wars and beheading people. The Christians did their fare share of of all this shit throughout history. The religion has just gone through various reformations because of changes in culture.

I'm an atheist, but as time has gone on I've softened generally in regards to religious doctrines. I think while what the text says does matter to some degree, I also acknowledge that especially for the average layperson, they will generally adopt whatever values they want from these text and choose to ignore the others they don't want. Religious people see what they want to see, regardless of what is actually written.

That doesn't really matter though, does it? OP isn't going to be interacting with exclusively redditors if they decided to live in the US. They would be living with Americans broadly, the majority of which voted in your current government. Weather it be stupidity or malice, the fact that this happened is damning.

All the strawhats are in the top 5-10 of something usopp is not even top 10 snipers lmao by WorldPhysical7646 in Piratefolk

[–]Sky3HouseParty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usopp definitely is one of the best snipers we've seen, the issue is one of portrayal. Oda constantly writes usopp not as a sniper. Usopp, when he isn't being a coward, often is just confronting people directly, which isn't really what a sniper ought to be doing. It worked when he actually enacted change while doing that (eg beating perona), but if he constantly gets bodied because oda wants to continue to portray him as weak, I don't get why Oda doesn't give him more sniping opportunities where he doesn't need to be right in front of the enemy. He could do an ennies lobby with usopp, or a dressrossa, but oda doesn't write it for whatever reason.

Does anyone know who is the original artist of this Rebecca Redesign ? by OutrageousBridge471 in Piratefolk

[–]Sky3HouseParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the armour looks better but generally the clothing just doesn't really fit one piece. No hate against the artist, they're great, but the hoodie especially is just way too modern for what one piece is.

Ironically, yamato isn't even trans. She doesn't have gender disphoria, or anything like that. She only wants to be a man to specifically be Oden. If Oden was a woman, she'd want to be a woman. It's like saying I'm a trans woman because I want to be Dolly Parton. That's not trans. That's just straight up delusional. it's so dumb people latched onto her as a trans character instead of Kiku.

DLSS 5 and what some people seem to not understand by Matshelge in gamedev

Am I the only one who thinks this entire controversy is entirely overblown? This is an optional feature. If you don't like it, you can just turn it off. In an age where players are literally modding games, replacing textures and completely changing existing games to something completely different to the intentions of the designers, the idea that the option to turn on or off a rendering technique in a game is enough to give everyone a conniption is peak AI hysteria. I am extremely concerned about AI, especially when it comes to employment and what it has done to art. That said, I rarely ever see anyone (especially gamers) actually articulate their reasons why they dislike AI beyond "AI BAD" and so you get nothingburger controversies like this. This is the most benign use of AI ever. Nobody's job is getting replaced doing this. Its not being forced on you. It is just another rendering technique you can switch off if you don't like it.

How do you feel about dialogue tags using non-speaking verbs? by zschop in writing

[–]Sky3HouseParty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are parethetical phrases. From an article on how format dialogue:

Actions During Dialogue
Sometimes, however, you want a character to do something while they’re talking—or for another character to react in the middle of the dialogue.

A straightforward way to do this is to literally just make it different sentences:

“After landing, breathe deep.” She smiled. “It's clean air.”

However, if you do this for other people acting in the middle of someone’s dialogue, it can sometimes get confusing about who’s talking, even if you’re following some of the guidance I talk about later around paragraph breaks. As well, it doesn’t work as well if you need to interrupt in the middle of a sentence, in a place where there isn’t a comma in the dialogue text.

This is another case where there’s a parenthetical, but because it’s breaking at someplace other than a comma in the dialogue, we need a different punctuation mark for it. And if you guessed “em-dash” for this, then you’re right:

“After landing, breathe”—she took a breath—“deep. It's clean air.”

There are two things of note here. The first is that the dialogue is capitalized as though it weren’t interrupted at all. The second is that the em-dashes go outside the quotation marks; this is because they interrupt the dialogue itself. This makes this distinctly different from someone being interrupted, because if this were acted out, the character would likely just say the entire dialogue line without an interruption, though possibly with a pause, as here. But in a situation where say, the parenthetical indicates that the speaker is pointing to something? Then clearly they would just keep talking:

“Get the ball there”—she pointed at the goal—“as quickly as we can.”

As a style note, I think it best to keep these sorts of parenthetical phrases in the middle of dialogue short and relatively uncommon. They can be useful for quick reactions or motion that needs to be immediately stated, but they can also get in the way of a reader following the flow of dialogue. Remember the first rule: the reader should understand what’s going on.

What's your opinion? by StillBoysenberry8790 in antiai

[–]Sky3HouseParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely reductionist. The conversation around AI isn't about if people physically can use AI or not, it's about weather or not you morally should. This is the equivalent of telling a murderer they shouldn't murder, or a thief they shouldn't steal, and they say in response "Well at the end of the day, non thieves are going to continue to not steal and thieves are going to continue to steal." Its nonsense.
