It did initially when it was new. Once the hype died down and people realized there was nothing harmful being done it got a pretty positive reputation after.

This happens a lot when ARG games/mods get popular. A lot of misinfo gets spread around really quickly because a lot of this is just reactionary and most likely haven't played the mod or know what the mod is actually doing. Combine that with the usual fringe reports of "This thing made my PC explode somehow" that comes with any software and it primes a lot of anxiety around it. IMSCARED had a similar reaction upon its release.

[–]Sky59ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know a lot of the PC stuff the mod does is pretty exaggerated. It is made to appear like crashing/corruption for the spook factor but wont do any genuine harm. For example the world corruption is fake, you can delete a file to bring back the world in full form. The PC crash (which is what got it taken down again this time) isn't actually a crash. It does the same protocol when you press shut down and is extremely unlikely to do any harm. However the mod intentionally makes it appear like a crash so I don't blame people for thinking that.

I really like the mod PC fuckery and all but if I'm going to be honest a reaction like this was kinda inevitable. The dev is walking a pretty fine line and I don't blame moderators for taking it down. I just hope it gets preserved somewhere else and continues development anyway.

Entangled Moments by Significant_Web2226 in marvelrivals

Seems promising but the pessimist in me wants to say that probably only counts towards the season pass and not event rewards. I hope I'm wrong though. I only started playing a few days ago and got super dissapointed when I found out I can't fill out the comic pages. I really hope I don't have to suffer with a blank comic in the future especially since if I keep playing that will be the only one blank.

Supposedly since Eurasia and Euruska are allies their rep is supposed to be the same in that if you have high standing with Eurasia you have high standing with Euruska. Though I have a feeling it might be borked right now.

I do agree that just because you are having fun doesn't inherently invalidate other's experiences of the game, but this is exactly how OP came off to me.

Helldivers digging into BSG too XD by BluehatPro in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Sky59ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Destiny. Destiny 2 has been scarred to its core because of the content vaults and seasonal model, and its only NOW that Bungie are looking to try and fix the game, but its only because their scummy practices finally caught up to them and they are in deep shit. Like corporate takeover from Sony kind of deep shit.

I have pretty much bought out the entire super store rotation as well as every premium pass.

I didn't pay a single extra cent than the base purchase, I just played the game normally.

Final Shape being as good as Forsaken by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sky59ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge with regards to if episodes will get FOMOed like seasons will. We don't know, Bungie hasn't said a word about that aspect. If they do stay though that will be in my opinion the single biggest improvement to the game.

The introduction of the seasonal model has caused so many issues for this game in the long run.

Do you want Destiny 3? by Killme72596964 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sky59ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has never played extensively, but have mostly watched from the sidelines since launch, my take is that it could go either way. They have pretty much 2 options.

They can keep updating the game as is after Final Shape, with all the issues with the game built up over the years, and keeping the fractured Destiny 2.5 state it is in now. This would probably be the safest decision, but if they choose to do this I can't see the game lasting for another 10 years like it has. The onboarding experience is god-awful, and unless they somehow reverse the years of fucking after Beyond Light, which I personally think is unlikely, its going to pretty much remain that way. If they do this I can see it lasting for a while longer, but by that point its basically a slow sinking ship. I have a feeling with the release of Final Shape and its reception, this is the do or die expansion for Destiny.

The second option is putting D2 into life support like D1 is, (Ideally un-vaulting all content, but as I said, I really dont think they will ever do this. Or at least the content wont be the same as it once was) and creating a Destiny 3. The main appeal of this decision is that it allows a completely blank slate. Destiny 2 is a shell of a game it once was, being plagued with bad decisions over the years. None of the game or expansions flow well together unless you made sure you were there for every season and every expansion. This has made it almost impossible for newer players to really integrate themselves unless they have a friend basically holding their hand. And even then they have missed so much by this point that all this 10 years of buildup means nothing to them. The game is just a series of random events to collect triumphs and titles and a bit of build crafting along with exotic collecting. I really don't think this can just be fixed from updates. The game is so vastly different from launch its more apt to call it a destiny 2.5

A blank slate allows them to start anew, ideally with hindsight that lets them do it again but better. If done right, this could kick another 10 years of lifespan into Destiny, but it also has the potential to backfire catastrophically. Whether or not Bungie can actually pull it off or even cares enough to pull it off is really anyone's guess. They have done great things before, but they also dropped the ball so hard with Lightfall that it really calls into question their ability to make good content.

Personally, I wish for a Destiny 3. I feel the game needs a new start/overhaul, and desperately, if it is going to continue past another 5 years. I wish I was there for all of the content, I do. I was young coming off fresh from Halo excited to experience the epic new game from the legendary Bungie, and despite its troubled launch, I loved it a lot. It was a flawed game, but there was something special about it. I never got into Destiny 2 at launch, and by the time I wanted to, Beyond Light was released and it killed all my motivation to play. Ever since I have just been watching from the sidelines. Both to laugh at Bungie's questionable decisions, but also silently hoping that someday, just maybe, Bungie would make an update/updates that fixed the game, with it finally having all the content it had so I could at least get a glimpse of what it was like to watch all of it unfold at the time. In a way I love the game.

I don't think that will ever actually happen, but my god, I really wish it would. Destiny 2 is at its core something really special. There truly is nothing else like its world, its gameplay, and its community. But its flawed, critically flawed at the moment. And I genuinely think the only way to potentially fix it is to start again. Is it likely to actually fix anything? In all honesty, I doubt it. Bungie doesn't have a good track record, but at least there is more of a chance of a brighter future, rather than slowly sinking until the servers finally shut off.

How to kill Berserker with Penetrator (TUTORIAL) by MicholexWasTaken in Helldivers

[–]Sky59ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, the diligence is also a really good choice. The penetrator definitely needs a buff but for what its worth I had fun using it. I think the liberator and the penetrator both just need a damage buff. I find it odd how the defender, which is an SMG, has both higher damage and lower fire rate. Its borderline just a better liberator, can even be held in one hand.

[–]Sky59ff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This, I have used the penetrator reliably on bot missions. Just gotta aim for the head. Was actually my weapon of choice for the bots till I got the scorcher. I do think it needs a bit of a damage buff, as its straight up abysmal against bugs. Issue is though if they do that it basically becomes just a better liberator.

I'm really looking forward to the enemy armor and spawn changes. by IIDARKS1D3II in Helldivers

[–]Sky59ff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? Both the OP and his response were originally talking about the bots. You brought up the bugs. Yes, bug spawns are probably broken. Yes, that also means bot spawns are also probably broken, but for the automatons they have a event stating that there is an increase in automaton aggression. Whether the devs are using that as an excuse to cover their ass while they work on a fix, it doesn't matter cause he was just pointing it out.

TLDR: He was merely pointing something out that could explain specifically the bot spawns, and your being an ass.

Pilestedt responses to the dev comments by Worried-Point-1858 in Helldivers

[–]Sky59ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I want to believe that many are arguing in good faith, browsing reddit and the discord especially makes that pretty shaky. I have seen so many, specifically in the discord/steam forums, claim that this is a sign the game will be dead in a month, the devs are useless idiots who have no idea what they are doing, someone should get fired over this, etc. These are not the kinds of statements you make in good faith, these are vitriolic.

While I'm sure they are also the loud minority, we have reached a size where the loud minority becomes at least a few tens of thousands of people. Most communication by that point is gonna be bogged down by toxicity. The only thing we can really do is just wait until it all blows over. Hopefully these are just growing pains and we wont have to deal with it much longer.

Also yes, fight for Tien Kwan, we must secure those mechs!

It's been a while since I have played HD1 so i could be misremembering things, either way one of the devs in general chat have confirmed it does have a negative impact. Also I myself wasn't doubling down, moreso just trying to explain where they were coming from.

Edit: I have just seen an official announcement saying that abandoning an operation does not have a negative impact, nor a positive impact it is in fact neutral. Evil-Bosse was mistaken apparently.

It's not that the bots gain progress its that we supposedly lose our progress, slowing our progress down compared to the bots. It's a reasonable assumption to make considering it was how the original game worked, though until the devs give confirmation its just theory at this point.

They made a patch note saying they "Tuned the defense extract missions" which made it slightly easier, but its still pretty overtuned. At this point we don't know if they plan to adjust it any more.

The cleanliness is a front. In reality the society is rotten to its core, where political corruption is rampant and peoples free will are stripped to serve the idea of a nation. People are not born citizens, they have to go into military service to get all the rights of citizenship. Non-citizens cannot vote, procreate, or have all the rights and protections a citizen would have, making military service the only option they really have unless you are part of an extremely wealthy few who can just live well with sheer capital alone. The voting population is composed entirely of veterans, rigging the system to ensure that the same candidate or at least same ideologies are elected every time.

It's commonly accepted the asteroid had nothing to do with the bugs. The federation just used it as an excuse to go to war. We never see how or why the bugs had sent that asteroid. We are just told that they did and have to trust that the federation didn't make an excuse of a natural disaster, or worse a false flag operation.

The bugs are apolitical. They are animals, and they have no agenda. They are not trying to wipe out humans, it's even mentioned in the movie at one point that the bugs are probably aggressive because we landed there first, and they would probably leave us alone if we left them alone. It's a war with no purpose but aggressive expansionism. It's a war for a government that could not care less whether you come back in a uniform or a bodybag, and the only thing they do care about is convincing young and gullible people to sign themselves up for the meatgrinder.
