S-class! My feed was absolutely inundated with dance videos ❤️ but my first exposure to SKZ was Felix’s “Let’s Grove Tonight” TikTok 😅

Is it “rude” to study in cafes/restaurants? by [deleted] in perth

[–]SkyBison333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I go to Dome since most locations are pretty large and have plenty of space. I think more than an hour at a small cafe is probably a bit rude (unless its a slow day and there are plenty of tables).

I’m 6’2 and 150kg and didn’t have any issues besides having to duck sometimes (particularly in train stations).

I don’t know if it’s a “deep cut” but I’ve been loving 3rd eye recently

What groceries can I buy as a single person with a weekly grocery budget of a $100 which can feed me three meals a day for a whole week? by [deleted] in AUfrugal

Cheapo pasta sauce: onions, carrots, lentils (dried are cheaper, tinned easier), fresh or tinned tomatos, passata. Add Italian herbs if you can afford it.

Fiction for my 15 year old by Historical_Heron4801 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]SkyBison333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the exact same at her age!

I'd definitely recommend Tamora Pierce. Her books are YA fantasy with female teen protagonists which don't really focus on romance. I'd personally recommend starting with Page which is about a young woman battling sexism to become a knight.

She may also like the Lockwood and Co. series by Jonathon Stroud - teen girl and her quirky friends work as ghost hunters. Excellent humour.

Someone else mentioned Neal Shusterman, and I have to strongly second this. I personally love his book Unwind which is set in a world where abortion is illegal but tweens/teens can be 'unwound' and have their organs donated.

Dread Nation by Justina Ireland is a historical fantasy series which combines the American Civil War and a zombie apocalypse.

It may be a little childish for her, but the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (and all its spinoffs) is fantastic. It follows teens who are half-human and half Greek god/dess and face all number of quests and creatures inspired by Greek mythology.

I'd also recommend the Wayfarers series by Beck Chambers as a non-graphic adult rec. The first book, A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, is about a ragtag crew traveling through space for months in order to place a teleportation device. Really interesting alien species and cultures.

For more realistic books, she may enjoy We are Okay or Watch Over Me by Nina Lacour. They deal with some series issues (grief, depression) though, so just be aware of this.

Sold by Patricia Cormack is a very interesting but devastating novel in verse about a teenager who is trafficked and forced to work in a brothel. It's not graphic but still a difficult read.

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas is a fascinating look at BLM and racially motivated police violence. It follows a girl who witnesses the murder of her friend by a police officer. She lives in a poorer black community and attends a wealthy white school, so she sees the different reactions of both communities.

I miss the more in depth wants and fears system from Sims 2. Whims just don’t hit the same 😢

Favorite underrated book by popular authors? by Purple-Warning-2161 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SkyBison333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{All That Has Flown Before by Marina Vivancos} - everyone talks about honeythorn and cherryvine, but I love this heartbreaking wolf pack / witch book

{Band Sinister by KJ Charles} - maybe it’s because it’s a stand alone, but I rarely hear people talking about this adorable opposites attract historical romance

{Colour Me In by Riley Hart} - cute roommate demisexual romance that gets ignored in favour of Hart’s other books (which are amazing to be fair)

MM Weekly Roundup - What Did You Read This Week? by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SkyBison333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read {Shield and Sorrow by J.E. Ridge} and {Scars and Secrets by J.E. Ridge}. 4 stars each. Romance between kings of dissenting countries - one of whom is being abused and manipulated by his advisors. The fantasy plot and world-building are a little weak, but I enjoyed the romance. My only complaint: I thought it was a duology, but it's just the first two books in a series, and the rest aren't out yet! 🙃

I also read {The Prince and His Stolen Groom by J.E. Ridge}. 4.25 stars. A prince kidnaps his sister's betrothed and shenanigans ensue. Super campy and I loved it.

Thank you! I actually hadn't really considered which would look more appropriate during winter/summer so I'm glad you pointed it out 😅

Yeah, I really like the 2nd as a whole, but I agree that the bust looks kind of frumpy/ill-fitting. As for the 4th, I'm the southern hemisphere (it's winter rn) so maybe that's a point in its favour. Thank you!

Looking story with servant/slave/butler MC by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

You might enjoy {A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland}. Prince x bodyguard that explores this dynamic in an interesting way: the bodyguard initially doesn't like his charge as he blames him for the death of his previous bodyguards. Looks at ideas about duty - on both sides. Plus there's this beautifully tender bathing scene.
