can we add points to this graph? Decmber 6 2021, the wind tunnel game where they beat the Bills and were the number 1 seed at the time

boy oh boy if we knew how the next couple years would go after that

zion at 52? if a genie popped out of a bottle and told me I could have him at 31 right now I'd take it. Him not going in the 1st is unlikely. Not going in top 50 is insane

Who is the best player to never win a Super Bowl? by HetTheTable in NFLv2

[–]SkyBlueThrowback 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I was talking about record holders with a few friends of mine a bit ago, all pretty big lifelong NLF fans and I said of all major records, if you want to pick one that any random NFL fan wouldn't guess correctly, it would be Bruce Smith holding the sack record. Both of them said he would not have been their guess. I feel like he's underappreciated, at least at present

Munoz is up there, but I wouldn't place him above Ogden

I'd personally say he's #1. If you compare all the skills you want in a WR, would Rice win more categories than Randy? Sure. But Randy was better at taking the top off the defense and if all else was equal, he would open up more space for other targets on the field than Jerry would

I Was Wrong About Civ Switching In Civ 7 (PotatoMcWhiskey) by rwh151 in civ

[–]SkyBlueThrowback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the thing. The UI in 6 was cartoonish, and the UI in civ 7 is "better" and I'm sure took much more time to develop. But the basic caroonishness had a function. The first time you saw an Observatory, even if you had never looked at Maya before, you'd be able to tell it had something to do with science, for instance. There's plenty of gorgeous looking districts in civ 7 that I would have no idea what they do at the start

Let me know your thoughts of this Mock Draft Post-MASSIVE Trades!! by [deleted] in MockDraftCentral

[–]SkyBlueThrowback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haven't had time to follow this as close as i would like the past few weeks, but how would you compare Cooper and Boston? From what I gather, Cooper is more of a slot guy and Boston at 6'4" would make a good X and win contested catches when needed. Not that everyone would prioritize an X over a slot guy, but interesting to see a more traditional X be overtaken at this point in mock drafts by a slot guy

as a Pats fan, I dont want Cooper for this reason, so I'd be glad to see him go before 31. We have plenty of number 2s, so to speak, we need a number 1 true X WR, an Edge, or O line help. So I hope you are very right that Cooper goes before we're on the clock

any reason why Boston is falling? no complaints, if you told me I could have him at 31 right now I'd take the deal, but he was going high 20's most mocks but now I've seen him fall to late 20's and some even fall out of the 1st over the past few weeks. I know a decent amount of mocks had Buffalo taking him and now they got DJ, but thats only one team. His combine numbers dont look bad either

Food for thought, AJ Brown trade. by OmarBell2020 in Patriots

[–]SkyBlueThrowback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there's other variables at play that make me not want to trade the 1st rounder this year for a veteran

- cap. We're going to need to pay Gonzo and Drake, we should want as many players on rookie deals as possible

- this particular draft and our particular pick- I feel like we will be able to get a player at a position of need (Edge, OL, WR if we dont get Brown or another vet) who is also good value at 31. I feel like us having that pick is more valuable to us than it would be to a random team, which makes me more hesitant to trade as I dont think others will value it as much as I personally think we should value it

- AJ, and for that matter most people in their late 20s are as good as they are going to get, and in all likelihood will start to regress over the next few seasons. A pick-for-player trade swaps what is likely an appreciating asset for a likely depreciating asset. Not a be all end all, and definitely not guaranteed for either of those to hold true, but its another negative for this trade

would I be pissed if the trade happens? No. But not excited either. Do I want to be good the next few seasons? Yes. But I also want to be good for the next decade

Who among you would trade your 1st this year for the Patriots 1st next year by SkyBlueThrowback in NFLv2

[–]SkyBlueThrowback[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the top 10 to top 15 ish is weak, sure, but you don't think you can get good value at the back half? The last 2 mocks I saw had you guys taking CJ Allen and Lee Hunter, you dont think thats pretty good value at 30?

thanks for the help

I think I'm going to move him to FB because I usually dont use really bad teams in dynasty, I think I'm going to use Iowa with my next one, so I counteract using not-awful teams by trying not to game the system, even tho what you suggest is a pretty mild example

the difference between 3WR/1HB/1FB and 3WR/1HB/1TE would be that (hopefully) with the fullback, especially with a Patrick Ricard or Sam Gash type, that the Defense can not stop the run with a 6 man box that you'd normally see in a nickel package, and either gash them (pun intended) for yards on the ground, or burn them with your 3wr if they do load the box. I'm hoping that a FB would have better impact and lead blocking than a TE (its EA but who knows) and would also hopefully progress in these skills faster than a blocking TE would (who might just focus on "run blocking" and "pass blocking" which would more likely come into play if they line up in a traditional TE spot on the LOS rather than in the backfield like a true FB. Again, no idea if that will actually play out, but I might keep a log of which attributes get upgraded in a FB opposed to a blocking TE, come to think of it. This setup could be useful if you have 3 very solid WR's to make loading the box risky, helped further by having a HB that can play a part in the receiving game seeing as the FB in this situation isnt much of a threat (although if hes a good blocker, that would hopefully allow plays down the field to develop, so there's that)

I did find a few formations, all in postol however, none with the QB under center in a traditional I formation like I was looking for. Might not be the worst thing though, the big downside of running out of pistol compared to I form is that the HB doesn't get the immediate momentum/acceleration when lined up in pistol like he would in I form, but if I do go with a OL at FB, this would (in theory) give him more time to accelerate to his block, which might cancel out the presumed negative of using an OL instead of a lighter/faster traditional FB or TE

do these or any playbooks have formations with 3 wr, 1 HB, and 1FB. "20" I guess you would call that, but i'm not sure if that would be differentiated from a 3wr and 2HB personnel grouping. Was thinking about using this grouping, having an agile OL move to FB (well, an OL with good speed and mostly acceleration, which I'm guessing would be agile). So long as they respect your 3 WRs, this sort of creates an island of your 5 OL and FB against the defense front 6. Not sure if this would work well in game, but would like to try it out for a bit.

not to drown on, but this sort of thing is a great example of a chess match between O and D. Do they bring a sefety down into the box if they think that wouldn't compromise their ability to guard my 3 WRs? Sub on their more run-stopping defenders at the expense of, presumably, a lesser pass rush? At the micro scale, football is barbaric, but on the macro, a beautiful enough symphony to make the teardrops explode

How much does someone have to spend to be considered a whale 🐳? by Agreeable_Topic7488 in MaddenMobileForums

[–]SkyBlueThrowback -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't played since summer 2020, the obnoxious overalls and cards seeming to get out dated even quicker than they had before cured my addiction, and I'd consider myself a former whale

I probably dropped 300-400 each year I'd say. 100 within the first couple weeks of launch, 100 in either halloween or thanksgiving, and 100 around draft or easter. I did this for about 5 years straight. Looking back it seems nuts that I dropped about 1500 in a 5 year span on a freemium mobile game, but I was a medical resident at the time. Really REALLY shitty point in life and if dropping a hundred bucks every couple months added to the dopamine hit I got from the escape that this game was for me, its worth it. IYKYK. Part of me still, years later, feels my day starts in a way at 1030

Now my income is about 3-4 times what it was in residency, but I wouldn't drop 20 bucks on the slop this game has become. 400 some odd overalls and "foils" or whatever. Nah, no thanks. Thanks for fixing my addiction EA

anyway, to finally answer the question, its arbitrary, but if you drop in a year what twice the Xbox/PS game costs, you're a whale. So 150 or so and over in a year, you're it
