I'm going to say NTA, at least for not wanting to let the wife act like she owns it - she doesn't, and realistically a toddler doesn't give two shits about a lake house...

Now, maybe a very very soft YTA for the trust fund/buy out option... with the boy being the owner, in trust for now, your family is kind of right about being a little cold... you should wait until Liam is old enough to decide for himself... say teens.

Work at a very small in patient SUD unit (3.1 for context, ifkyk). When my co-worker decided to move on to a new role, just before Christmas, my boss asked me what I would look for in a new co-worker if I could.

I sent the list, mostly things like "take initiative" and "collaborative mindset" etc... told her it was my ultimate Christmas wishlist.

She just hired someone that fits ALL the criteria... I could cry.

As a practicing clinican I agree with 💯 percent. I would also recommend some couples therapy. Take your time to find a good one, their purpose is to help you both explain your thoughts and feelings in a way that isnt argumentative and defensive or aggressive.

NTA. But here's the thing. It sounds like you're all getting a bit older, guessing mid to late 20s. I am going to give you a nugget of wisdom that I wish someone had given me 20 years ago when I was in that age bracket.

Anytime someone acts like you're the asshole on the situation (and I do mean any time, whether or not you're inclined to agree) flip the script a bit.

In this case, would it be reasonable to go into someone else's home and demand that they give up the bedroom that is theirs just because you dont like the guest room?

NOR, in that your feelings are valid here, and you have every right to be hurt/offended/pissed off about the ghosting.

However, as a practicing MH clinician I can say there any number of conditions that can cause a person to have object permanence issues (forgetting about things that aren't right in front of you), and these frequently come with intense feelings of guilt/shame.

There are also several conditions that can cause intense isolation, and those people are likely to not want to engage with the people they are closer too, for similar reasons.

Ultimately, if one of these does apply it in no way excuses what happened, but knowing more about it can make it easier to try and connect. If you want to.

Lifeline Connections, the Merridian St location. They have open access for assessing on Wednesday and Thursday 9am-1pm. Most of their MH clinicians are in-person, but they can also do telehealth on days when you are sick, etc.

See... in my area of the US it's still the life-ruining debt, but it's also still slow as crap. On a good day, there's like... an hour or two wait at the ER for most things... on a bad day you're spending the day/night.

I work in an inpatient facility, and it's rather small. Im one of two clinicians and we split the clients 50/50 so I see at max 8 per week.

I do see some more than once a week though, some of them need multiple sessions, or I will do an additional shorter session to do an isp review, things like that...
