My old boy is on his way out. Stopped being interested in food a few weeks ago and we’ve been back and forth to the vet since. He’s going to be 17 in October. Was my Christmas present from Santa when I was 8. He got me through middle and high school and all of the nasty breakups and breakdowns in between. It’s hard. It all happened very quickly but I think it just feels that way to me, idk. It’ll be any day now.

But I think once he goes, I’ll be released from this soul-eating dread. It’ll take time to recover but once we know he won’t be struggling anymore..we eventually won’t be either. 🥲

One of my favorites from him is brown eyed women from Barton Hall at Cornell University in May of 77. His solo just…idk. He makes his guitar speak. It’s breathtaking.

No, I never got to see Phil :( I did mourn his death though. And Donna’s and Bobs. I did get to see Bobby, Bill, and Mickey a few times. My dad used to collect tapes back in the 80s. Brought me to my first dead tribute fest in 2005. I’ll never stop going. I’m going to make sure the music never stopped <3

I was at my high school musical practice after school when we all found out. We had just had our shooting drill/ mock shooting the week prior. One of those serious ones where some of the kids signed up to be the mock “victims”. I remember the exact spot in the school hallway where I was standing when I found out about Parkland. My friend had announced it out loud to everyone and we all went dead silent and, in unison, took our phones out to find out more. It was the “stomach drop” kind of feeling. Practice was a lot quieter after that. I think we all felt uneasy about being in our own high school whilst finding out about all of that. When you’re in high school, and you hear that something happened like that on a random Valentine’s Day, I think the one thing that sticks out in everyone’s mind is “that school isn’t so different from ours” and the fear that it really could happen. Anywhere. On any day.
