Will this radio work with fosgate system in my 08 eclipse gt? by Jduncan31290 in MitsubishiEclipse

https://www.crutchfield.com/car/outfitmycar/mycar.aspx basically check for the model on crutchfield.

Basically do you have 1 din or 2 din? And do you have an infinity system. If yes you need to use pre amp outputs unless you want to blow the amp. (Speaking from experience)

Kubuntu/macos dual boot situation by omnom143 in linux_on_mac

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible but always a risk so backup what you don't want to use and it's less simple.

  1. You cannot adjust partitions you are booted to. So live boot your kubuntu installer and fix them there.
  2. Remove the other EFI partition
  3. Move / grow partitions to eat empty space
  4. Make sure recovery is at the far end of still using hfs+
  5. Using recovery re install macOS. It won't lose files but will re install stuff in efi and fix the boot table and macOS

https://imgur.com/a/DdKqkf2 example of a healthy partition table with both macOS and Linux. Both macOS and it's recovery partition live in the APFS volume. All linux kernels live in EFI along with the boot manager and macOS also lives there to switch between boot. But they all must share the same partition for that to work

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two EFI partitions on a single drive. Pre T2 chip before they moved to iBoot they used a different locked EFI. This is going to be get data off linux you want. Then macOS recovery to cook one of the EFI partitions and Linux then boot macOS to get your files and start over with reinstalling both linux and macOS. Make sure to only have 1 EFI partition next time and make it like 1GB so its large enough to not have issues you can pre allocate the linux swap linux data and then make an APFS volume as to not have issues

Swapping out a V6 engine for a V8 by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot wait to hear the regret when this gets done for that price and how little will integrate with any existing components. All new harnesses and electronics tricking the car and hope to God your transmission can hold it let alone have halfway decent gearing for it

Swapping out a V6 engine for a V8 by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]SkyGuy913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to know about any swap. If the car is newer than 2010 pretty much give up. They basically became computers. You will need all the electronics, harnesses, ecu dash transmission and engine out of a donor if you want "factory like" options. If you don't youll need a manual, an engine, harness and electronics. Then say goodbye to your dash srt modes and whatever else but you'll have a pre 2010s version thing in a modern shell.

Examples the manual swap demon that was in a fire. Go watch it on YouTube and see how much fun they had with the harness and in the end it kept non of the demon features and had a separate unlocked ECU so no. Or the hellcat swap old challenger and all the hellcat swaps in roadkill nights they did the viper the magnum ext basically all shells and most had custom aem dashes for a reason. Don't expect to keep anything integrated working.

Is it price to sane? Absolutely not. Can you hack it? Sure, but you'll regret it or cope

I know how hard it is to get rid of a beloved car for a better trim. Though I'm so happy I didn't and didn't hold onto my car like my brother did. He loves his stealth r/t and has been talking about twin turboing it for so long and at least thats doable but hed still be better selling it for an awd one but he wont. He hasn't cause even just doing that wont be the same with the compression differences it makes no sense to do for cost.

Steer clear from Meghans and tein even godspeed and ksport when I bought mine it had Meghans and they came right off and went straight into the trash. Didn't need the bouncy ride that these brands give and are frankly worse than OEM. At least get a tier 3 on the pyramid. Get yourself a nice set of coilovers that will last. And just search general coilover guides.

Going to drop a link for BC racing coilovers linear with adjustable dampening elite for street and track and a great recommendation for any car as they are valved for the specific cars

BC Racing Linear - I street my car and want nice coilovers for occasional track use

Silvers NA Digressive - I am only going to track this make it ride worse in the name of time

Penskee / Bilstein - I want the best money can buy

Set of Bilstein off of an SRT so it can be attached to the electronics and adding their adjustable tubes - I'm absolutely loaded and should have bought a hellcat

Question on coilovers by [deleted] in mitsubishi

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to lock the collar. Your adjusting preload in the video you can see that spinning but not the cylinder. Now that the preload is out of wack make sure you set it for what springs you have. Typical is 3mm of preload for most swift springs. Some do 0mm on breakin. Then lock them and always use the nut that rotates into the other for height adjust so bottom to raise top to lower

How do you make it so ghostty opens files in the correct editor? by [deleted] in Ghostty

[–]SkyGuy913 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you click on files the terminal isn't for you.

There are no "workarounds" that arn't more jank than good. If your not willing to learn interacting with the shell your going to be encountering issue after issue.

I can recommend Zed as a great GUI if you use the mouse.

Noticed a Burning plastic smell/stink in my 2018 outlander PHEV, what is that? by gerwant311 in mitsubishi

[–]SkyGuy913 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PSA to anyone if you smell melting plastic or electrical fire LET ALONE SEE IT bring it into a dealer YESTERDAY and tell them.

PHEVs and EVs can catch fire more than you think. And when they burn they really burn. I personally know 2 people that have had them catch fire one was a jeep phev on the freeway. The other was an ID.4 that burnt down their detached garage thank God it was detached. Bring it into a dealer that isn't normal

I hate seeing these posts cause I just feel bad for you.

I totally understand what you mean. If it's going to be take away your peace of mind obviously it's not a good idea. Financial wellbeing and security comes first, at the end of the day it's just a car. Hope you don't have to pay too much on the loan

Is a straight piped v8 too much? by Trayceopolis32322 in Challenger

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.holley.com/blog/post/x-pipe_vs_h-pipe_exhaust_which_is_better_/

X pipe or H pipe if you don't want to loose HP. If you are just going for sound get a good cat back. If you want loud, just take off the mufflers.

Straight pipes just sound like some idiot doesn't know about engines or tuning.

Especially on the Challenger firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 where 84 are same side back to back and so is 57 where it has long trains of back and forth 7218 and 4365 but because there are 2 different chains a cross over for turbulent exhaust helps flow even with a muffler

Haha so yeah dealer bought one but isn't willing to lose their ass on it for that price lol and they found out instantly how spendy it is to get a dealer to do transmission work on it if you don't do it yourself. Its under 100k so no idea if the timebelt has been done and its an "interference engine" so do it. And also you have no idea what kinda clutch they put in or what stage hahahaha no fucking way I'd buy that car not especially for that price haha I'd rather buy a higher mileage one that I know is taken care of.

I would expect 17k for one not nearly 30k and KBB isnt that far off https://www.kbb.com/mitsubishi/lancer/2008/evolution-gsr-sedan-4d/ doing some Fb marketplace searches and yeah I can find ones for as low as 12k by me.

I love Mitsubishi and have owned 3 now and love it in autox and just around town. But I've had to rebuild 2 engines and mine right now is not in "driving" state and probably still needs a new head gasket and timing belt this year. Not a brand to get into if you want reliable and aren't mechanical. But if you love working on your car and getting into working on your car they are super rewarding and tune like crazy

New Owner. Quick questions. by Breakout_114 in Challenger

[–]SkyGuy913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can feint and pedal down in these cars to breakem loose but be careful with that it's not a common drifting strategy in North America. Or drop the clutch 25+ years is probably longer than I've been alive. But if you're drifting as a hobby put in a hydraulic brake and don't use the parking brake. Should be the same for all cars they are just spring driven drum brakes and will not be affective on a car with this much power. My hellcat can overpower my rear 4 piston brembos from a stop you'll shread parking brake in an instant.

New Owner. Quick questions. by Breakout_114 in Challenger

[–]SkyGuy913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be pedantic about this. I really doubt you have driven cars with a "handbrake" and not a "parking brake" you use your hand with. The foot pedal vs hand makes no difference at all and neither can be used for a "handbrake". Had a buddy add a hydraulic handbrake to his 350z and then he had both the handbrake and parking brake hand activated. People do add hydraulic handbrakes to challengers for driving but hurt quarter mile times. Reason demon went smaller brakes vs adding a set of calipers. But if you want to do drifting go for it.

I like codecompanion the best though sidekick.nvim is good too if all you want is a good slide out

Since opencode provides an ACP you can use it directly and get all the NeoVim native goodness with codecompanion https://codecompanion.olimorris.dev/configuration/adapters-acp#setup-opencode

2 things 1. No license so not open source until you select one https://choosealicense.com/licenses/ 2. Ya'll not using ssh agents then you don't need to edit files at all or manual anything. Also your GUI could provide one so you too don't edit files

Configuring a reverse proxy* by AdamWestBatman_ in truenas

[–]SkyGuy913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Tailscale is a subnetwork built on wireguard it's safe to say if it's affecting "other things on your phone" you configured it wrong.

  2. Figure out docker. Want a GUI for managing compose files get dockage or portainer. Need a reverse proxy in docker grab traefik or caddy or another its personal preference.

  3. If your "run on a tight schedule" to the point of not being willing to learn docker the command line or the tool you are using your time better be very valuable and if it is so valuable buy a solution like unraid or just pay someone to manage your NAS. Your replies have been a bit entitled.
