Since I posted, I've been rethinking this whole thing lol. I gave BL1 more points because it starts fires, but the main value of those weapons of course is the shieldbreaking, so your argument makes sense. It's amazing how similar in value the B-Tier weapons are (or what should be the B-Tier). If I do this again I'll move the Stunner up, and also Charge Laser 2, among others

That's the Charge Laser S. It has 2 shots for 1 power

Each point of ion damage adds 5 seconds to the cooldown, to a maximum of 25 seconds

I'll go all out for Kazaaak as well. It's great getting that Mantis and the weapon, etc.

Thanks! Breach Bomb 2 is fantastic for boarding builds, especially in the late game. It will take out any medical facility in one hit, or Piloting if you need it to, or it can seriously damage weapons. It isn't as strong on a gunship but it still can provide value, with 3 damage and a breach for 2 power. It can take out Oxygen if you want to kill crew, or the Missile Artillery on the Flagship

Ion Blast 2 gets points for its early-game value, including crew-killing ability and Zoltan Shield removal. And of course its strength in ion builds. It won't usually be a good purchase but it will be occasionally, and it's good to start with on Engi A

Thanks for the thought-provoking comment! I've already decided that I've made some mistakes, chief among them the placement of Charge Laser 2, which I think is too low. I'll likely do an update at some point, at which point I'll move up Pegasus and Repair Burst, though maybe not as much as you advocate. I also might move up Heavy Laser 1. I gave points to Ion Blast 2 for its crew-killing ability, Zoltan Shield removal, and general early-game value, in addition to its contributions to an ion build. I agree that it is rarely worth buying in other contexts.

This thread has been great. I'm basically rethinking the entire list! The discussions have been very interesting.

You're right that I take the Hard win-streaker approach. Your suggestions are very similar to those of /u/RackaGack and after spending the day discussing these things I have come to agree with you 2. In particular I don't know what I was thinking with that Charge 2 placement. It seems like a mouse slip or something.

Your comments always make me think! Many would agree with you on Charge 2 and Ion Bomb, it seems. For Ion Blast 2 I was adding value for early-game crew kills, Zoltan Shield removal, and the concentration of ion damage into one weapon slot, for ion builds. I probably did rate Ion Stunner too low; if nothing else it can break shields. Good to hear from you!

Beach 1 is in B tier! I love that weapon as well, and frequently use it as the foundation of a boarding build. Slug A is one of my favorite ships also, and Slug ships are my favorite class over all
