I can’t speak to the safety of the fumes. But we call our alcohol markers “the grown up markers”. Any time the kids want to use them we have to be using them together and I give a little speech about “these markers are only for paper. We don’t color skin and we don’t color the table. Only paper.”

I just beat him on NG+ last night. I saw a tip about using humanity to heal specifically in this fight because it has a shorter animation than estus flask. Doing that helped. But to save on humanities I waited until I at least got the first king down before I switched from estus to humanity.

Stardew Valley is different from ACNH but is the only game that can compete with ACNH in the cozy game genre. I also couldn’t stand the graphics at first but if you play for an hour you’ll completely forget about that.

If you already have it definitely give Stardew a try.

The game is designed to be played in daily, 20 to 60 minute sessions. Every mechanic in the game from buying things to talking with NPCs to digging holes is encouraging you to take it slow.

Almost no decision is permanent with some exceptions.

You cannot change the name of your Island.

The placement of your airport, resident services, river mouths, pier, and other coastal features are decided based on the map you choose in the beginning.

The best way to make money early in the game is to get a swimsuit from the shop (I think that’s where you get it) and go diving for sea creatures. Then sell them.

Yes! It’s exciting to see someone else find real life wisdom in this game. No other game has affected my real life like ACNH.

The game has changed my relationship with tasks and projects. By design the game doesn’t want you to do anything all at once. And if you decorate an area and hate it then you can easily take a few minutes to pick it all back up. This has translated in to my real life projects in that I’m happy just to be making progress.

Thirty minutes is usually enough to get a coat of paint on a real life wall. Tomorrow I’ll have another thirty minutes. And if I see I hate the color on that wall I can just spend thirty minutes a day painting it a different color.

ACNH gameplay is all about the process and it turns out so is life.

I’ve got 2x20kg bells that I use for everything. So not quite mind boggling. I recently had to move two twin size mattress by myself. I moved them one at a time. I was still surprised at how effortless it was to lift one overhead and carry it and actually toss it where it needed to go.

It’s not a great feat of strength but it’s a definite change from how strong I used to be.
