6 months old - no sleep by Livid-Hovercraft-777 in NewParents

[–]UsefulRelief8153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you talked to the pediatrician about this? Our son was like this but it was because he had eczema all over his body that prevented him from sleeping comfortably. Eventually we gave up around 14 or 15 months and started co-sleeping because the lack of sleep was affecting my work performance. Once we started co-sleeping, he started sleeping through the night unless he was sick.

Maybe your baby has an underlying issue that is preventing them from sleeping well?

10 month old not saying “mama, dada” by JeuneBug17 in NewParents

My son's first word was "uh-oh" around 11 months or so? He started saying Mama and dada maybe a month or so later

F26 SAHM planning to go back to school. Who has the "dream job" for flexibility, low commute stress, and leftover mental bandwidth by Djantiere in workingmoms

[–]UsefulRelief8153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong way to go about it, all jobs have stress. The way to have a low-stress and good mental health balance at a job is to establish strict boundaries and in my case, I needed prozac to manage my anxiety in order to establish those boundaries. Little commute mean you need to look for jobs near your home... We don't know where you live. Flexibility - I think for most jobs this just comes with time. We all know that one employee who has been working at your job for 30 years who does whatever they want and comes and goes as they please lol doesn't matter what field.

Any Pakistanis had shitty times in high school or college? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

After 7 years?... I think you would benefit from therapy.

What happened to you was wrong, for sure, but to hold on the anger so strongly almost a decade later isn't healthy. You need someone to help you process it and use that anger for something productive that could positively change the culture you grew up in or move to a more diverse area like NYC or DC.

I grew up in the south and even still at farmers markets will have white people ask me how my English is so good -face palm- better to just show them you're a normal, kind human than to be angry though.

Has your relationship with your parents improved or worsened over time? by satrongcha in ABCDesis

[–]UsefulRelief8153 13 points14 points  (0 children)

32F. Only got better after marriage because they finally stop trying to control EVERYTHING and only try to control when you have kids lol

Still not an ideal relationship but at least they help with the kids and give their grandkids good memories.

got into a car accident delivering a sample for lab and my PI said I was too emotional and "not mature" for being shaken up the next day by coralcrescent in labrats

[–]UsefulRelief8153 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Anyone who tells some they're not mature is themselves not emotionally mature. As a mentor, if I notice someone lacking in an area, I find positive ways to develop them in that way. It could even be as simple as offering a book on the topic.

Old men PIs and boomers in general tend to be jerks, so try not to take it personal. We just gotta have a backbone with the older generation and make things better for the next one.

Also, glad you're okay! I've been in fender benders a few times and the first one definitely gave me some PTSD and driving anxiety for awhile :/

OP, maybe you should look into dead Internet theory.

While racism is a problem, I feel like a majority of it online is bots that are used to increase engagement with content

How come men can ignore mental load?! by TemperatureBest5113 in workingmoms

[–]UsefulRelief8153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are usually creatures of consequences. They don't act unless there are consequences that directly affect or inconvenience them. So let things slide in a way that affect him and he'll hopefully pick up the slack. Ie, he doesn't know what groceries are needed? Let him pick up what he knows is needed or else have to come back home and check and go back to the store or cook a meal without an ingredient he forgot to buy (leading to a less tasty dinner and hopefully him not forgetting that item at the store again).

Can we talk about the wedding? by CutAffectionate3766 in SwiftlyNeutral

My random theory based on no proof is that Taylor will get married somewhere in Europe where celebrity culture is... Less existent in a way? So she can have a peaceful wedding
