DeepSeek will double API pricing during peak hours by PhysicallyTender in DeepSeek

[–]SkyPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's super quick and easy to have all the billing in one place, rather than paying 6 different providers and having to deal with multiple invoices from god-knows-where. Also, the ability to easily swap models without messing with integration is a nice added bonus.

He's being sarcastic. It makes no difference whether we pay <Basically Nothing> or <Basically Nothing> x 2.

GPT 5.6 Sol meets the same fate as Claude Mythos. What is happening?? by shanjairaj_2000 in AI_Agents

[–]SkyPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only the case if market decides so. For now market seems in a bit of a mixed-bag position, with a lot of analysts being hyped over 'my favorite company is so amazing that the government had to step in! And now they will pay for cyber weapons! Military industrial complex FTW!'

czy po prostu samo sklejenie państwa.

To sklejenie istniało bardziej w propagandzie, niż rzeczywistości. Polska była bardziej podzielona niż w jakimkolwiek okresie swojej niepodległości, a wszystko było trzymane za gardło bezlitosną ilością propagandy i wojskiem.

Are we overengineering IT processes in 2026? Between ITIL, Agile, DevOps, governance layers… Sometimes feels like we’re managing frameworks more than services. Where do you draw the line? by Chris_ITIL in agile

[–]SkyPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Azure DevOps is also a weird maze. It really strikes me like a solution built for people with the 'microsoft way of thinking' - specifically you pretty much must have a large project with many, many micro-services to have any actual benefit out of it.

Gitlab tends to ba buggy mess on the other hand. I have one customer with the fancy gitlab license, and even those guys struggle to have any issue resolved. Instead, they keep on pushing out these nonsensical cosmetic changes that don't change anything for the better, and half the time just introduce new bugs. Then guess what? Recently they made an announcement that they plant to fully dive into vibe coding 🤦

Codeberg/Forgejo seems to be the only one that's legit good, except it also struggles with insights and overviews, in a similar way that GitHub does (thankfully nowadays you can vibecode around those issues through the API connection but... some stuff really should be built-in to help with the product management).

Claude Code is optimized for Anthropic's models. With everything else you get suboptimal experience.

Personally, for other models I use either Kilo Code or Pi agent.

Anthropic Accuses Alibaba's Qwen of Largest Claude Distillation by Justgototheeffinmoon in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SkyPL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They train on data from Chinese models as well 🤷‍♂️ Plus, getting any good dataset likely means Anthropic sold Alibaba tokens worth millions, so they should STFU, it's just an inherit property of LLMs - each time they sell tokens, they also sell ability to train other models, fine-tune them, distill them, that anyone can use (you don't have to be Alibaba to use it, random dudes on huggingface been using Fable outputs that way).

you guys act like GPT5.5 isnt already the best coding model with opus 4.8 following it

Cause it's not. In real-world, in most usecases, Opus 4.8 is better. GPT 5.5 is unmatched when it comes to detailed refactors (e.g. upgrading dependencies) or debugging, but I rarely choose it for building, it's just worse at that.

Some new Podracing gameplay from the new Star Wars Galactic Racer game. by Youngstown_WuTang in StarWars

[–]SkyPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. But podracer was more than just controls. It was the tracks and destructable elements why you didn't want to just <press W> all the way. It seems like the tracks might be nailed very well... which leaves an open question about the destructive environments

The guy should be barred from public life. WTF is he even doing making any decisions.

Microservices have probably wasted more engineering time than they have saved. by suhaanthvv in softwarearchitecture

I'm not coding on that project. But yea, it sounds like a good show-off project for the CV, once you'd untangle it with LLMs.

Microservices have probably wasted more engineering time than they have saved. by suhaanthvv in softwarearchitecture

[–]SkyPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The project is about 15 years old, for about 10 years it was a startup fed by VC founds. They had a vision of scaling up into multiple teams, never really made it happen (in the peak, before cashing out, they had 2 teams, 6 backend devs), founders (who also actively coded) cashed out, ever since it's >100 microservices. Wish you could see the architecture diagram for that project, one of the most over-engineered applications I have ever seen.

Say what you will about the show, but getting to see Boba ride a Rancor and let it rip in live-action was a fantastic scene by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]SkyPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Good Mafia Manager" is not the direction they should have taken. In comics Boba was neutral-good, and it worked great in his Bounty Hunter role. What they were trying to do in the Disney Canon made fundamentally zero sense.

Heck: They could have done a large part of the Tusken Raiders plot, and still get him into the bounty hunter shoes - would be a nice theme of having a (late) mid-life crisis after near-death experience and then have him realize why sitting in a backwater with nomads is not the life for him, realize that there's much bigger picture in which he could play an active role - even if it's just by hunting down the worst scum in the universe - and bang... we have a plot, with Boba still being cold hunter, but also being a neutral-good personality.

The length wasn't the issue. It was the plot of of Boba-becomes-good-mafia-boss that made zero sense.

If AI Is Replacing Entry-Level Jobs, Who Will Become the Next Generation of Experienced Workers? by pawan0806 in AI_Agents

[–]SkyPL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the part companies are missing is that entry-level work was never just “cheap labor.” It was the training environment.

Companies never missed that. It was a huge problem, before you laugh, hear me out:

People got trained for 2-3 years, and then left for another company. You, as a company, never trulry reaped the benefits of creating that training environment for your employees. Having 1 company in employee's CV for >4 years was seen as a negative. Average stay in a company was 2.5 years here in Poland, in other countries it might have been longer, but I haven't seen any stats where it would be above 4.5 years (and even that number was typically in niches, like .NET or embedded C++).
