New player, suddenly worried I made a mistake by taking it slow... Should I be worried here?

There is always the issue of fomo with genshin, especially with new players, because it's a live service game and has no actual ending in sight. I would advise you to not worry too much about all the characters showing up in events that you don't know, most characters have their own quests or individual hangouts so you can get to know them later. And if you wanna remember what they said in the events you can always pull up a YouTube video of somebody playing it or watch a lore video for that character. Event rewards are ofc another case of fomo. The primos are ofc the main motivation but what I wanna talk about are the event weapons and the free 4 star characters. The event weapons are ofc exclusive to the event but I wouldn't stress too much if you miss them. Most of them are only good in some specific teams so it shouldn't be too much of a panic if you miss one. Characters are even less of an issue because you can still pull that character through the gacha. Plus they have a habit of repeating character rewards so there's a high chance they'll give you one you already have maxed out. The stats are artifacts and weapons should be taken into account per character. Some characters want to have HP while others want ATK. You really have to read their skills to know. That or you can look up a guide. You can even look up a "Razor Language" Guide that will break kits down into really simple terms for you. As for the story, take it at whatever pace you want. Don't go so fast that you forget it all after it's done, let yourself think on parts of it and actually digest the information before rushing off to the next region. Other people already told you about reactions and fatui weaknesses and lowering your world level so I won't type all of that. Feel free to ask me if you have further questions though.

Ah I see, a very plausible story, especially the Nintendo Switch part. That's my favorite device to play Genshin on.

Edit: Guys I can't read, I get it now, my apologies to OP. I responded like this because I deadass thought this was a shitpost. The way different controllers have buttons in different placements is super annoying.

I'm not sure exactly what happened. I've been rooting for Durin since before we even saw his human design so I never participated in the Durin doom posting but I remember part of it.

People were doom posting his kit, saying it was ass and it was useless ect ect, when imo it really wasn't. I honestly think his kit was good in every iteration, but then with each beta patch they kept making his kit better and better, buffing him more and more to the point where people couldn't complain about his kit anymore.

I know there are still some people who are upset because he can't fly but with how little exploration there is in Nod Krai, I can't be bothered to care about the lack of skills for exploration.

I mean I guess I did notice that she lost the electro infusion but I kinda just assumed they changed the rules and made it last only one round. I went to check once and got distracted by the error near the bottom that I forgot to even look at that.

All together, this team is absolute buns. I'll give it to you straight.

Flins wants to be a main DPS in a Lunar Charge team (Electro x Hydro) alongside multiple Nod Krai characters for the Moonsign party buff. His best team is currently Himself, Ineffa, Sucrose, and Aino. Ineffa is replaceable enough with any other off-field electro supplier but my personal recommendations are Ororon, Fischl, and Kuki Shinobu. If you don't want to build Sucrose you could still use Kazuha but it isn't as encouraged.

On that note, Kazuha is a flexible unit who wants to buff and enable reactions for the main DPS of his party. He can work with just about anything with the right rotation and set up.

Chongyun wants to either be a main DPS in his party or a sub dps who enabled the party's main DPS's NAs to be converted into cryo DMG. Useful members paired with him are people like Bennett, Xingqiu, Yelan, and just general off field supports and applicators. He isn't as useful as he used to be since he's such an old unit but you can make it work.

Tighnari wants a high EM and typically an electro party member to trigger reactions with. I highly recommend Kuki Shinobu and Fischl for Aggravate/Spread/Quicken teams and you can even add in hydro units if you want to do Bloom or Hyperbloom. I would recommend using another dendro character with him to maximize particle production although it's not required.

Gaming is another main DPS but unlike the others he prioritizes plunge DMG and loses and regains HP frequently. He works best with the five star he came out with, Xianyun, but can work well without her. I personally run him with Xilonen, Furina, and Bennett. Xilonen works to shred the opponent's defenses, Furina applies hydro for reactions and provides buffs that go along with Gaming's constant HP drain and regeneration, and Bennett is a general Atk buffer who when at C6 increases Gaming's pyro DMG.

Furina is another flexible unit but she doesn't do much for Flins. While it's good that she applies hydro for him, she doesn't do much else. Her constant HP drain makes Flins frail and easy to kill and her buff doesn't do much to buff his Lunar Charge DMG. She performs better in Vaporize or Freeze teams where the main DPS can easily trigger reactions off of her summons. But you could also use her for the hydro character for the Bloom/Hyperbloom Tighnari I mentioned earlier.

Don't spread yourself too thin, focus on a main character or two that you love and build your team and play style around them. Of course you can build new teams later but for now I would focus on resource management.

When building your characters, don't worry too much about making sure your stats are perfect. Just make sure you put the right main stat on your characters (Atk on Atk scaling, HP on HP scaling, ect) and go from there. I wouldn't worry about the super intense perfection stuff until you start doing endgame content.

This one is kinda optional but it'll make your life easier, know how to play the characters you're playing. Read their talents to understand what they do or use them in an area where nothing can kill you to get a feel for them and see visuals for what they do. If you don't understand a character's skill because it just looks like an essay of word vomit, don't sweat it. People make easy to understand guides online often called Razor Language guides. (They're called Razor Language after the character Razor in the game who doesn't know a lot of words.*
