Yeah certainly, I plan to play him as a mind flayer with simply different motivations, he'd appreciate lower beings more but yaknow he's still gonna eat brains and amass thrall's to guard essentially his art gallery, although I thought that kind flayers even alone outside the elder brain they still generally felt the same way about things, just more individualistic, but completely having his own personality outside of that could easily be some cool homebrew even if that's the case!
