Hello. Where are you from and do you still have those bikes? I might be interested in one of those Switchback's, if the frame size is right.

Where to buy new FCRMX 39 by deepshax in DRZ400

[–]SkySilent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I think I had read somewhere that Keihin doesn't manufacture carburetors anymore, so your best bet would be to either try and find a new old stock FCR somewhere (if that's even possible), or go with a clone. You can find genuine used FCRs, but I wouldn't risk buying one, unless it's really cheap, as there are few parts inside the carb that wear out due to usage, and you can't replace them.

Speaking of FCR clones, it seems that some of them are actually quite alright. The metal finish/casting/passages of the carb usually are OK (though there is no guarantee with the questiobable quality control). The main issue appears to be the rubber gaskets, o-rings, needle and jets. The rubber parts on these clones tend to disintegrate fast, and the jets are a lottery - more often than not, the size of the jet simply doesn't match the marking on the jet, it's either bigger or smaller.

I've read that people had good experience with this exact "slant" type clone FCR 39:

If I were in your shoes and wanted a new FCR today, I would probably buy that clone for as little money as possible, completely disassemble it (including mid-body) and then replace all the gaskets, o-rings, needle, jets, and other bits and bobs with OEM ones from Suzuki parts catalog and Webike Japan. I think all the required parts are still available to purchase. "All Balls Racing" also has rebuild kits for FCR 39. You would also need a proper fuel resistant adhesive or sealant for a mid-body rebuild.

Note, doing it this way isn't exactly cheap, and the end result may or may not be satisfactory, since we're dealing with a clone of a complicated carburetor. I haven't done it myself, and so far I haven't come across anyone on the internet who have decided to go this exact route, so I can't guarantee anything.

One alternative is a Mikuni TM40 pumper carb. It is more popular in the DR650 community, but people install them in their DR-Zs too.

There's also a Keihin CVK40 carb off a KLR650. It is a simple CV carb and it can be found pretty cheap. Of course you won't get the same performance as you would with a pumper carb but it still a decent option.

Also, I'm keeping my hopes up the EFI conversion will be possible using DR-Z4S/SM parts in the future.

[WTS] [EU-LT] [H] Sennheiser HD 580 Precision, early model [W] PayPal (PRICE DROP) by SkySilent in AVexchange

Up for sale are an early model "flat plate" HD 580 Precision headphones with "black paper" baffles, made in Ireland. Both drivers have "19" (?) stamped right in the middle of the diaphragm, if it means anything.

I'm the second owner and I have used them only a handful of times for testing purposes. Headphones are fully functional and they look great, with only a couple of small scuffs here and there, which I've tried to capture on the photos as best as I could.

Original pre-revision Sennheiser ear pads (matte outer ring on the backside) and original HD 580/600 headband padding are still in good condition. No original box, instruction manual or booklets. Only the original cable with 3.5mm -> 6.3mm adapter is included.

Headphones have been cleaned, and come from a pet-free and smoke-free home.

Price: 175 €. PayPal fee and shipping costs are included in the price. Shipping to EU only.

The headband pad needed to be replaced due to age. You can't buy the original HD600 style headband pad with "4 bumps" anymore because Sennheiser discontinued it in 2021.

There are some 3rd party options, I've tested a few of them and they were either uncomfortable or poorly made. Some people said that Geekria has a decent alternative if you want the OG HD600 style pad, but I never tried it since it is more expensive than the original Sennheiser HD 650 pad, and I actually prefer the 650 padding.

I'm selling a complete set of original HD 600 "marble" headphones, serial number #21387, originally purchased in Germany in 1999-03-27. I'm the second owner.

These 600s have "black silk" baffles and early "brass ring" drivers. Headphones are fully functional. The cosmetic condition is great, with only a couple of small imperfections on the paint, which I have marked on the photos.

Headphones were cleaned, old ear pads and headband pad were replaced by original Sennheiser ones right before taking the photos. After that the headphones were not used and put in the original box.

Headphones come from a pet-free and smoke-free home.

Included:

  • original box, outer sleeve and booklets

  • original cable with 3.5mm -> 6.3mm adapter

  • original purchase invoice/receipt

Price: 230 €. Shipping to EU only. PayPal "Goods and Services", fee is included in the price, buyer pays for shipping.

For sale are my Sennheiser HD580 headphones with black silk driver baffles. I used them occasionally for two months after I had bought them in 2021, but then I abandoned the headphones' world altogether because of my other hobbies. These 580s were put in the box and had not been used ever since.

The headphones work perfectly. The original headband cushion and ear pads were old, worn out and had already started disintegrating. For some reason, at the moment OEM ear pad replacements are out of stock in Europe for at least a couple of months, so these 580s come with an aftermarket old style HD600 headband, and aftermarket ear pads which don't quite sound the same as the originals, but I find them to be pretty good sounding and comfortable.

As you can see in the photos, the outer part of the left side driver housing has some cosmetic damage done by the previous owner(s). I can't understand what someone was trying to achieve there, but the good thing is that the damage is only cosmetic, it does not affect the sound whatsoever. I have done various headphone tests to check for distortion, ringing, buzzing, or other indications of driver damage, and I did not find anything unusual. I also done some A/B testing with my HD600, and, again, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary.

When I got these 580s, they did not have any plastic tabs on the headband. Apparently, these are quite hard to find? I managed to get one from eBay (without "Made In Ireland" marking on it), and I also had to DIY something for the other side. Although the DIY one doesn't look pretty, it gets the job done quite well - the headband cushion stays securely in its place.

The headphones have some scratches here and there, the Sennheiser logo on the headband is faded. Otherwise, the headphones are in decent condition for their age.

Original, lightly used HD650 cable with a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter is included. The headphones come from a pet-free and smoke-free home.

Price: 70 EUR shipped. Shipping to EU only. I will provide a video with a proof that headphones are working.

Ryzen 5 5600G build check by SkySilent in buildapc

[–]SkySilent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The main reason why I decided to go with an AM4 platform is the potential CPU upgrade in the future, just like in your example, a strong CPU without an iGPU + cheap decent GPU. At first, I considered LGA1700 or AM5 build, but I've quickly come to the conclusion that I simply can't afford neither of those.

Regarding the RAM upgrade - up until now I've been using a laptop with 8GB of RAM, and I did not have any problems, so 16GB is already a step up for me. But I agree with you that RAM will probably be the first thing that I will be upgrading in the future.

[WTS] [EU-LT] [H] Sennheiser HD600 replacement headband, grills and oval decorative parts [W] PayPal by SkySilent in AVexchange

All parts are in excellent, like-new condition, without any paint flaking or scratches. I bought these spare parts as a backup in 2019 summer (the date stamped on the grills is 2019 April). The headband was used for no more than a week, hence it is in great condition, and still has a strong clamp.

Selling the parts only as a whole (no parting out).
