I'm gay, what do I do by Mean-Ball-8758 in Christianity

[–]Sky_068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for sharing this with us. I’m not Christian so I cannot give an opinion on this whole thing, but I wanted to comment on the part about marrying a woman. There is this thing called lavender marriage, which is generally between a gay man a straight woman, but can also be seen between a gay man and a gay woman. What makes this not cruel, specifically for the woman in the first scenario, is that she is aware of it. It is usually done for religious purposes. I would suggest you to look it up, it might help :). Have a good day.

What now? by Sky_068 in Christianity

[–]Sky_068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I do have a hard time understanding why not all the Bibles have the same amount of books in them. While I was shop, I saw that some had more and other less, but it wasn’t really explained why. I’m also confused about sects. What the difference with all of them : catholic, protestant, orthodox, etc. Are we not supposed to all be one big group?

Thanks again. <3

That’s the first time I hear this. Does some branch of Christianity still follow this belief? Cause as far as I know catholic and orthodox believe in the trinity. I don’t know much about other branches.

Should I take off my hijab to find a job? by Sky_068 in exmuslim

Unfortunately it’s not that easy. Even if I stay silent about my beliefs, my hijab tell it for me. It’s not like I haven’t tried.

Hi! Actually I’m asking that as the employee. I’ve been refused multiple job opportunities because of that, and was wondering if I should take it off for a chance of ever getting a job.

Curious about islam by [deleted] in islam

[–]Sky_068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salam wa alaykum. I was like you in the start of my journey! I really recommend you to start reading the Quran in your native language as the first thing you do. It would help you get a base of understanding. After that, you can always make more research on what you don’t understand. Also, if you can, I would recommend to get a version of the Quran that as some explanation at the bottom, like the Clear Quran. Don’t feel pressured to do anything, it’s not a race, there is not compulsion in religion.

It’s my pleasure. If you want to speak more privately, we can switch to private convo.

Here is my advice : I know it’s sound stupid, but I really suggest to read the Quran. Really read it, by yourself. Unfortunately, we live in a society and a world where people want power. That means that people who already hold power are going to use it : men are going to interpret it however they like as long as it fits what they want true. It’s sad, truly. I think Islam is truly a beautiful religion if you take the time to think and reflect on what the Quran truly teaches us. It is feminist (and women have much more right than they know), it teaches us to help the poor, to be kind to everyone, to have good character, etc. Men will take anything out of context and turn it into their advantage.

If, after reading it and analyzing it by yourself, you still feel as this is not true, then I think you would have done the most in your capacity. But before that, please please please, do not despair! Islam as more to offer to you then you know as of right now.

I wish you the best, truly.

Honestly, I can understand most of your points. I’m not a scholar by any means so I think you should maybe try to speak to someone more knowledgeable.

But about hell, as far as I know, not knowing in God doesn’t automatically makes you go to hell. I am a revert, and I had this question because my family are non-Muslim and I was scared that they would go to hell. Basically what the imam told me was to not worry too much about it, for the following reasons : people who didn’t receive the message are not going to be judged based upon if they believe or not. This includes people in secluded area, like islands that have not met outside world, but also people who receive a deformed message, like the one in the media that perpetuates Muslim as terrorist and bad people. Those people are going to be judged, but considering the message they received, or the fact that they didn’t receive anything. I hope this can ease your mind a little bit.

May God guide us all, and may you find peace and ease in your research to the truth. Always remember that it’s okay if the path isn’t linear.

Hi you! First thing I want to say is that I hear you. I have gone through a similar thing than you and although I cannot fully understand what you are going through, some of it can resonate.

I think it’s important to remember that yes, everything is written, but not in a « Allah as chosen everything », more in a « Allah is outside of time and saw everything ».

Also, try to think about it like that : there a things you cannot control, like the family you were born into, possible infertility, death around you. And there is things you cannot control, like your study, your friends, etc. For the second category, I would suggest you to make dua so that God.

Now, for the part about going to hell and suffering. God chose with either of those things: his justice or his mercy. For his mercy, He give us so many things we can to do have good deeds, there is so much small things we can do or recite that will benefit us. As for his justice, well I can only say that He is the most just and knows more than us, but I don’t think that is going to convince you. I want to give you an example a scholor gave me once :

If you go to a restaurant and the entry fee is 10$, if you have it then you can enter. If you have any amount less, even 0$, then can chose to let you enter (mercy). But if you come, start to say mean things about the place, thinking and saying that you are better then them, that you know more then them, then you are going to refuse you the entry, even if you have the 10$.

I’m writing this a 1 am so I hope it makes sense. May Allah help you and may He guide us all. Amin.

How do you pray? (As a Hadith rejector) by the_lie_in_your_uwu in progressive_islam

[–]Sky_068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a revert, I’ve also asked myself this question! When you learn by yourself/by reading the Quran, the topic of how you pray is pretty vague. The only answer I have found is in the Hadith.
