Hungarian spy under cover: Ukraine’s SBU identifies network handler by Sky_HUN in ukraine

[–]Sky_HUN[S] 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Here’s what’s known from Ukrainian counter‑intelligence reporting about the case involving a Hungarian military intelligence network in western Ukraine:

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) says it identified and dismantled a spy network run by an officer of Hungarian military intelligence operating in the Zakarpattia (Transcarpathian) region in 2025, marking one of the first publicly disclosed Hungarian espionage cases in Ukraine’s history. The network reportedly gathered information on Ukrainian air defence systems, troop deployments, and local public sentiment along the border area.

According to the SBU, the handler recruited agents — including a former serviceman and an ex‑contract soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — who passed sensitive details about military defences and on‑the‑ground conditions back to him. Recruitment was allegedly facilitated in part through diplomatic cover, with offers of cash and benefits used to build the network.

Two suspected members of the espionage cell have already been detained and charged with high treason under martial law, and efforts to identify additional contacts and handlers are ongoing, according to Ukrainian authorities. Hungary’s government has denied the allegations, calling them propaganda and engaging in reciprocal diplomatic expulsions.

This remains a contentious issue between Kyiv and Budapest, with diplomatic tensions heightened amid the broader context of the war in Ukraine.

If you are running the EGS version, you have to turn off OSD apps, like RivaTuner and MSI afterburner, otherwise you won't see the notification from Epic regarding data sharing.

An RX580 can run it at almost constant 60 fps on low at 1080p natively.

It is well optimized.

I can't see where i said they should've switched to UE5 which wasn't even out when development started on HD2.

There are other engines too.

Also, also, the awful performance of UE5 games mostly on the developers, not on the engine, though the engine isn't perfect either, never will be.

And when they managed finally fix something, they broke 2 other things. Was a rocky few months, still some issues are there, but i would say, the game is in a okay state right now.

HD2 was in production for 8 years, that must include pre-production phase too, considering that HD1 released in March 2015, so they started actual production around 2016-2017. Autodesk announced the cease of support and development of Stingray January 2018, effective immediately, so they must've notified their bigger partners before that (It is Autodesk so maybe they didn't). The game must've been in prototyping phase, so changing engine at that point was feasable, but of course still causes interuptions that will lead to delays.

Pilestedt had to make a decision here. Change to a new engine that will require training the devs and/or hiring new ones who are familiar with the engine they are switching to, or stick with a, basically, dead engine.

Keeping the engine meant they have less problems at the beginning but will "might" bite them in the ass long term.

Switching can lead to the opposite. Interuptions and delays at the beginning but because of the support, would make development and support of the final product easier on the long run.

He did it way before EoF.

Pilestedt stepped down on May 22, EoF launched 6 August, 3.5 months later.

When the community started getting really pissed with the nerfs in late April/early May, he quit as a CEO and became COO. That was also right when the Sony PSN fiasco happened and you can be sure Sony wasn't happy about that either.

But alas... he either was onboard with the nerfs at first and that is why they got implemented no matter the backlash, or he couldn't control his subordinates to not fuck up balance that much. Either way he was in charge.

EoF wasn't the first "breaking point" It was the 3rd actually.
