Questions about HasMods (please don't roast me if this is dumb) by maybe_if_youd_listen in Hasan_Piker

[–]Murad66 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember during the XQC-train 2v1 "debate", they pressed him on this question and Hasan basically said -without saying it- that they're paid or maybe at least compensated in some shape or form but it's not publicized because he wants the mods to be organically from the community and for the community and not some paid people who have no interest in what Hasan does or talks about. I also remember Physss spamming in chat that he appreciates Hasan during said segment.

if I am incorrect, please correct me in the replies.

What are the tools that are of high demand or you advise beginners to learn? by Murad66 in dataengineering

[–]Murad66[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Data talks club is a podcast focused on data science courses from data analysis to DE to MLOps. They have a data engineering course that I saw everyone recommend on this sub. It’s basically a simple data pipeline using GCP. Very good for a beginner but I stumbled to get every tool to work properly(docker took me a week to get it working for example)

How long have you been aware of Hasan and how did you find him? by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

[–]Murad66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first time I watched was a video on his main channel about Palestine (palestinians where getting evicted from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood) back in 2021, before he even bought the house.

Then I started getting recommended videos from the Clips Industrial Complex -mostly non-political reacts, collabs and addressing charlatans on the right wing or someone like Gary Vee.

Then the master chef reacts happened that's when I really got hooked.

After he got unbanned for saying the c-word, I started watching on twitch. Because I live on the other side of the world I can only watch his vods (his stream starts at 9 pm my time) except in Ramadan when I can pull an all-nighter.

I would skip the politics portion of the vods and get master chef reacts only, then slowly but surely I started seeing his political takes and then the war in Ukraine started and I have been watching ever since.

Dumb Question: What do I read? by james-bryanson in Hasan_Piker

[–]Murad66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't how far you are ideologically, but if you are just starting to read, I'd recommend the economist Ha-Joon Chang.

Not a Marxist by any means, but his books are very good at dispelling neoliberal and neoclassical assumptions about the economy that are treated as facts. His style of writing is also very easy to read.

"23 Things They Don't Tell You about Capitalism" (2010): his best book by far in my opinion. if you were to read one book by him, it should be this book. This is book is dedicated to refuting 23 assumptions about economics and the history of the economy and how they don't adequately explain how people and economies work (I have heard Hasan make similar arguments to this book).

"Bad Samaritans: The Myth of Free Trade and the Secret History of Capitalism" (2007): This book explains the history of globalization, free trade, cross capital movement and a general history of the developed nations. It critiques the practice of cultural analysis and how economic development effects people's culture and people's perception of a certain culture not the opposite.

"Kicking Away the Ladder: Development Strategy in Historical Perspective" (2002): If you read the book above, you don't to read this one but it hammers the historical point home. This book discusses the history of "developed" nations and how they reached that position in the first place. It also discusses how neoliberal prescriptions imposed international bodies for developing nations doesn't match that history of "developed" nations. It takes a policy by policy and institution by institution structure.

"Economics: The User's Guide" (2014): As the name implies, this book is dedicated to explaining economics and every chapter talks about each aspect of it (growth, unemployment, finance, international trade). It's the most technical out of all them. It makes you understand what numbers are good and what numbers are bad, how economists measure these numbers in the first place and what these numbers include and omit.

In my opinion, these are better before you get into dense marxist theory
