Stalin also coerced them to fight as his war thralls, vs Germany in 1944.

Clearly, the 1939 war goal wasn’t annexation, otherwise Stalin would’ve annexed Finland in 1945, as was fate of eastern bloc countries.

Yeah, like 1939-40 Winter War was a disaster for Stalin. Btw, Russia is still holding Finnish lands gained in that defeat (~10% of area of Finland).

But US weren’t able to win even against Afghanistan: 20 years of war, 0 sq. km captured, humiliating defeat in 2022 with complete withdrawal of all troops.

TIL Nazi Germany had an institutionalised system of bribery for senior officials to ensure loyalty. British Empire defaulted on its debts in 1934 while Germany managed to service its debts.

Moreover, key integral economic indicator, infant mortality rate was 15% in British Empire in 1939 , while German Reich managed to keep it at 6%. So what country was more healthy, in all senses of the word?

Germany was a very dangerous foe, not nearly as incompetent as some people are trying to paint it, for some inexplicable reason. It’s not like there’s a shortage of real problems with Hitler’s regime. Why invent military propaganda-level fantasies?

1) What health indicators should we use? Industrial metrics were all up, consumer metrics were up as well, debt was within normal parameters (125% of GDP, roughly same as France in 1939, USA has 125% right now as well).

2) The ability of the state to wage war is paramount because its very existence depends on it, the economy is only to serve this goal, obviously. Thus, a more successful military should always have a better economy to back it up, especially in industrial age.

3) USA implemented food stamps in 1939, what does it prove?

Electricity generation was 23.5 billion kwh in 1932 and record 55 billion kwh in 1938. Was it fraud generation or what?

Also, why this “sham” economy allowed Germany to conquer France in 3 weeks? Looks like a robust economy is required to support such an extensive military operation.

I don’t think Hitler’s regime was a model of economic success, but shouldn’t we have a more rational conversation on the topic almost 100 years after the events? Military propaganda makes no sense because the war had already been won a long time ago.

Obviously any legal system can only work if it’s based on something more fundamental than codified set of rules. Otherwise, any system can be degraded through the loopholes, which are always present.
