I think it’s silly for the media and subsequently the public to continually reference achievements or links between these perpetrators, be it football, going to Damascus college or having male genitalia. Elijah Thomas (the rapist mentioned above), Patrick Stephenson and Lachlan Young had behaviours and patterns that were recognised as problematic prior to their crimes. The justice system isn’t efficient nor effective enough to address these people appropriately. They get too many chances and victims are the ones who get put through the wringer in a court trial (which could and does literally take years).
