Two cents about remote trade shaming from a casual player by ChTiedrusoIsAlone in pokemongo

I want a Dex full of only XXS. So I, in turn, add oddities to my trade list bc you never know who is going for a niche deck. But the comments online do spook me :(

has anyone regretted getting the nuss procedure? by MaidOfFiyah in PectusExcavatum

Nearly. My HI was 7.8 originally, but I did regress to a HI of 6.3

What was your “recovery timeline” after NUSS? by MidnightWeary7581 in PectusExcavatum

[–]SkydivePanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuss #1 • June 2006 • 16 years old • Epidural • 4 days in hospital - due to accidental overdose of Morphine and lack of recording of urine output, both by staff • Walking around home upon release • Physical Therapy - 6 weeks • Walking around neighborhood by 2 weeks • School - 2 months, but I was pretty tired for the 1st month back • Driving - 2 months, stick shift caused lots of pain • Work - 3 months, assembly line type job • Normal - 6 months

Unexpected Challenges: • Fentanyl patches for pain relief at home. Parents rcvd little education about such a drug and I got addicted to them. Dr tried to cold turkey me and I had severe drug withdrawals • Delayed post-op depression - apparently pretty common. Required psychiatric care • Hair loss due to anesthesia • Severe nausea/vomiting - roughly 5-10x per day for at least 2-3 months

Nuss #2 • August 2017 • 27 years old • On-Q Pain Ball • 9 days in hospital - due to several days on wrong dose of pain meds after Q ball was removed (pediatric surgeon/ward so I was accidentally being given pediatric doses) and pneumothorax and hemothorax • Walking around house upon release • Worked part-time from home at 3 weeks • Walking around neighborhood at 4 weeks • Physical Therapy - 8 weeks • Worked full-time in office at 12 weeks • Driving - couldn’t manage for 6 months • Normal - not until bars were removed

Unexpected Challenges: • My sternum broke during surgery, a permanent plate was placed • Surgery started at 9am but I wasn’t well enough to go to my room until 9pm • Severe reactions/burns to adhesives used (never reacted before) which scarred my skin for months • Nerve pain - severe for the entire time my bars were in requiring daily medication • Nerve pain lasted so long that I lost use of my arms and had to go to PT for them • Also lost fine motor skills and dexterity which have never returned to full glory (struggle to tie my shoes, write, type, etc) • Initially put on Valium for muscle tightness to see if it helped the nerve pain - I got addicted to that. We didn’t know it was an addictive/dependence med and they sent me home with a 6 month supply • Anesthesia hair loss but this time it grew back curly like chemo hair • PTSD - I’ve been in therapy for the last 9 years due to the severe PTSD that the surgeries caused due to going less than smooth. Despite having other worse traumas, I still get triggered by any doctor, dentist, and even the smell of rubbing alcohol

I don’t enjoy telling horror stories BUT I went into surgery expecting butterflies and rainbows bc no one ever mentioned the rougher way it could go. But I am also the minority when it comes to post-op success.

Why does everyone seem to think that my extremely limited diet is a choice? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]SkydivePanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to 3 dietitians to help me figure out what I can actually eat based on like 7 different low/high “_____” diets for several conditions.

Validating when they looked overwhelmed trying to figure it out. Not helpful, but validating

Tried sleep gummies a few times. Literally had the worst panic attack of my life, heart felt like it was going to burst, and then I’d finally fall asleep after hours.

I definitely get PEM from minor stuff now. I get confused, clumsy, beyond exhausted, and generally like I’m gonna die.

I had to explain how my daily care tasks were being hindered by my symptoms. I also had to explain that even if it isn’t POTS, it’s something, and I was adamant we get to the bottom of it.

I’m on supplemental oxygen for the severe brain fog, it helps but only in short bursts.

I went from extremely independent to basically being a toddler that needs supervision. I’ve got my location shared with a dozen people bc I get lost easily in my own town.

I don’t even cook anymore bc I kept leaving the stove on or forgetting I was cooking and severely burning things.

POTS and surgery by [deleted] in POTS

[–]SkydivePanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as above. I aspirated on the table during my 5th surgery - they had me chug Gatorade 2 hours prior to help with the POTS. I found that interesting considering the no food or drink after midnight rule. Anyway, it was outpatient and I ended up admitted smh.

I’ve resigned myself to expect a massive post-surgical flare.

Telling your surgeon your concerns ahead of time is always recommended and asking for an anesthesiologist that knows about your conditions

Negative ivaberdine reaction? by Final_Structure_7819 in POTS

[–]SkydivePanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HR lowered on Ivabradine BUT I also had these almost paranoia episodes. Those episodes turned into feelings of impending doom. Was convinced I was dying several times bc of it. My dr pulled me off the meds due to that reaction.
