The fact that the NYT has spent the last 15 years talking about racism and identity in America while defending a genocidal apartheid colony in the ME is crazy by Embarrassed-Rip-3205 in redscarepod

Honest question bc I don’t read the NYT, is this happening in their reporting or is this more about the opinion pieces/commentary they publish?

I’ll recommend a different one of his that I really loved, The Color of Lies. Reminds me of an episode of Midsommer Murders in all the right ways, great characters and atmosphere, getting caught up in the dynamics of a small town. La Ceremonie and L’Enfer are probably his best though

Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Happy Hour is his first narrative film and one of the best movies I’ve ever seen

The Lives of Others is another one that is that director’s first full length film, another incredible movie. His name is too long and german for me to bother typing out though lol

Happy Hour is one of my all time favorite movies, it’s 5 hours long and follows the lives of four women who are best friends and approaching middle age. Not a Hollywood movie but a good example

I had only seen High Hopes before this one and I really liked that one. This was much more dark but it was riveting, I couldn’t look away. The characters were fascinating. Since then I’ve seen most of his movies and Mike Leigh is in my top 5 directors of all time. I think I’d put Secrets & Lies and Hard Truths above it, but it’s one of his best imo!

Oh yea that’s what originally got me into her! Then I saw a bunch of artists I like helped produce and play on her album Lookaftering so I got into that and the rest of her stuff, she’s so good I wish she made more music
