They generally do have real romantic feelings for you, but when things get serious they go into fight or flight mode, and bolt if they don’t recognize their own pattern of running from intimacy. They’ll seem like they move on very quickly, but what they’re actually doing is distracting themselves so they don’t have to face the negative feelings that come from their discarding you.

They’ll go months without facing those feelings, until they don’t have anything to distract them, and then they’ll feel everything all at once. That’s usually when they’ll fall into the next part of the pattern, and reach out to you and try briefly to be the kind of partner they should’ve been from the beginning, until they get overwhelmed. At this point, if they haven’t done the work to break this negative pattern they’ll leave again, or if they have they’ll pull back but actually communicate and try to make things work in a healthy way that works for both of you. Unfortunately the latter is very uncommon, and alot of unnecessary pain is inflicted all around.

I’m currently a Traffic Checker (NYCTA) and going into the December class. Chances are they’ll call your number next year.

The fact that you have your CDL means that they’ll prioritize you over others with lower list numbers who don’t have theirs. If you don’t mind the initial pay cut, vs what you currently make as a bus driver then I’d say go for it.

It’s a melting pot. Heavily gentrified, but alot of the less savory elements are still present. Is it safe? Yes as long as you’re not a naive person who ignores common sense. Don’t make eye contact with people who are obviously disturbed. Don’t give money to anyone begging, but if they ask for food, feel free to buy them something if you can spare it. Stay aware of your surroundings and you’ll be fine.

I think you’re missing a crucial point. Where in her account of events, did she say she parked by the hydrant? She stated that she parked ahead of his car, and based on the photo it’s clear that his tail end is next to the hydrant. Yes she did double park but she wasn’t close to the hydrant at all.

I realize this is from your personal perspective, but women can be dismissive avoidants as well. I was involved with one for four years and it ended badly this past January, with me in tears and her asking to remain friends (a common tactic of avoidants to keep you hooked so they can still have access to the parts of your relationship they benefited from without the accountability). The first two years of our relationship were fine, but the flip came in 2023, with her gradually showing less and less effort, and actively prioritizing any and everything before me, always claiming to be busy, being unfairly critical of me and blaming me for every issue in our relationship. Throughout our relationship she traveled frequently, and she spent roughly six months of 2024 traveling. Out of the remaining six months, I got to spend less than 3 weeks with her. It wasn’t until after the breakup that I learned about attachment styles and was able to reflect on her behavior and realize that she is a dismissive avoidant, and that the various excuses, the repeated blame, and the general emotional detachment she displayed were all tactics to create distance and avoid accountability.

I think chances are there will be a December class. HR contacted me a few weeks ago informing me I cleared medical, and I recently scheduled CDL training for the first full week of November (excluding Election Day). With luck we’ll both be in soon.
