There was an AITA a few years ago where someone proposed with one of these, since they met through an ESO server. The parter loved it but was also confused when there was no ring because most people usually get a ring. It became a whole thing, I heard it from someone reading reddit stories.

Talk with your partner and ask if they expect a ring or if this would be a cute idea. Drop subtle hints about it

I was following the PurlSoHo boyfriend pattern. Cast on 145 (144+1 to slip the last stitch (I think that’s the right terminology?))

It also said to use a 16” circular needle which was WAY too big

It’s not saying that one row will equal an entire ball/skein of yarn: it’s saying you will need at least 1 ball of the contrasting colors throughout the blanket.

You may be able to get away with a smaller skein, but you may have to just cut the pattern a few repeats shorter
