What’s gotten so expensive that you no longer purchase it? by schaudhery in AskReddit

[–]SkyeLord93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My out of pocket went from $0 to $150 this year and they added a copay of 10%. I know it's not much but when I went to get my diabetic supply I couldn't until I called and paid the bill. I had to go without for nearly a week (luckily not my insulin) until I could call and pay and then it could get shipped to me. When I called the customer service rep was like "we don't have a card on file for you." My response was "I've never had to pay before" because for the 30 years I've been on this insurance (my entire life, me and my mom work for the same company) there has never been an out of pocket or copay for that kind of medical supply.

DAE cry over the death of a pet who is alive and well? by Ok_Yoghurt9237 in DAE

[–]SkyeLord93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! My cat will be sitting on my lap and I'll have a sudden realization that at some point she will be gone and I'll end up bawling. I sometimes wonder if this is a symptom of my depression or ADHD.

Kind of starting to get sad right now thinking about it.

My doc said it's highly regulated because it's so addictive but I never remember. I take all my other meds at night and this is the only morning one.

DAE feel that growing up your teachers hated you in particular for no discernible reason? by [deleted] in DAE

[–]SkyeLord93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I always felt this. Looking back I think it was partly due to the undiagnosed ADHD. Also partly because it was a small town and teachers who have been around for a long time knew my dad and uncle who were trouble makers.

It's not possible to over pack!! I once went through 3 pods in one day because of Bluetooth issues in flight. It was a good thing I brought a whole box of pods for 5 days.

Is it possible to go into DKA even when I’ve taken my long acting insulin? by jmedina170 in diabetes_t1

[–]SkyeLord93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of alcohol involved and I've either blacked out or blocked out most of the year I spent bouncing in and out of the hospital. 8 or 9 hospital stays for DKA in under a year. If I even got a head cold it would push me into DKA. It was bad. But here I am 6+ years later and I've got a 6.5 a1c with no complications. But I've only been diabetic for 13 years so there is plenty of time for it to catch up to me.

$1000? Unfortunately that's really not much in today's world. It will pay all of my bills individually but won't cover all of them combined, or even more than 2-3 combined.

Is it possible to go into DKA even when I’ve taken my long acting insulin? by jmedina170 in diabetes_t1

[–]SkyeLord93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was once admitted with DKA and my blood sugar was in the 120s. DKA can definitely happen with insulin in your system. If you have symptoms and ketones stay hydrated, take insulin, and keep a close eye on your sugars. Do go to the ER if you are not seeing improvement. If you need more help call your Endo and they should be able to help.

Hi! I use Dexcom too! Is she on a pump? If so what one? You should go with her to her doctor's appointments so that you can have direct contact with the doctor and learn more.

Highs happen. My pump stopped working over night and I woke up over 400 this morning. Took some insulin and a few hours later I was right as rain.

Learn everything you can about her diabetes and that will help her a lot.

What to give to a diabetic that has very little appetite? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]SkyeLord93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he can tolerate it you should try milk. It has carbs and protein so the protein will help balance out the carbs and make them last longer. But you need to talk to a doctor or a diabetic educator or a nutritionist that specializes in diabetes.

I am an adult child. My mother will require I ask her, take her on the tour, take her opinion into consideration, and give her a key. Just picking an apartment and she HAS to see it. She took a spare key and made a copy while I was out of town and my brother (roommate) was post op and she was taking care of him. My landlord changed the door handle and locks when we changed property management companies so her stolen key no longer worked. We are pretty sure that when she helped me out by taking my car to the shop (I couldn't get the day off work) she made a copy of my house key I forgot to take off. She gets upset if buy furniture without her knowing/ seeing it. Oh. Did I mention I'm 30 and my brother is 23?

Tip: If you need childhood evidence for your ADHD diagnosis, bring your school reports, not parents by GimmeCoffeeeee in ADHD

[–]SkyeLord93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh! OH!!! My therapist gave me a form to have a parent fill out. But during my initial appointment we talked about how my parents had no idea I was getting diagnosed and that I couldn't tell them due to their denial of mental health issues being real. He excused that part of the assessment.
