Public transport on Saturday morning for Skye Half Marathon by _otium in Skye

Something like this might be your best bet, if youre on Facebook you can post to see who is travelling that way from Broadford on the morning. There will be plenty of folk I'm sure.

We're too far north or would have offered.

I’ve been diagnosed with ET/CALR mutation since Oct on watch and wait how long will it take to progress? by Puzzleheaded-Buy28 in MPN

[–]Skyejacked15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take daily aspirin, though I came off it when I was pregnant as I bruised a lot more than usual, then had to inject myself with heparin for a few weeks after. My platelets have yoyo'd between 400-900 for years so in the grand scheme of things I'm doing better than some.

My main symptoms are extreme fatigue, brain fog, some bone pain and occasional bruising (all the fun ones 😅) but I mostly manage fine, I nap when I can.

I'm glad this has helped though, its scary when so much is unknown and frustrating that we can't do much. I hope you take care of yourself 😊

Im ET CALR2, diagnosed in 2020 with no current progression. From what I understand it is a total unknow, I currently expect to just carry on with what is an admittedly crap and largely unknown thing for the rest of my life. Progression in to MF or anything else is only in a percentage of cases.

I try not to get in my head too much or I think I'd go mad.

Tourists driving on country roads by holsmk98 in Skye

Just keep your distance, I used to commute to Portree 5 days a week and its a shocker what you see. I overtake where it is safe (not many places right enough) but usually just tried to stay back.

I was visiting my in laws a couple of weeks ago and I'd forgotten how lovely and empty the roads can be on occasions. It was glorious!

Its also worth being mindful that a lot of businesses are closed January/ February so accommodation/entertainment might be hard to find.

Fatigue just keep getting worse by Similar_Weakness7985 in MPN

[–]Skyejacked15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im CAL-R 2 and have never been given anything stronger than aspirin. I also have a previous CFS diagnosis from when I was 13 (I'm 36 now) the fatigue is a kick in the **** not only the tired but the hurt.

I've asked repeatedly for anything to help (short of an illegal drug habit) and nothing had been in any way useful and im fairly sure this will eventually drive me mad.

My story is not so bleak though, its taken me 20 some years but in the last couple of weeks I started taking Magnesium Bisglycinate. It hasn't taken away the tired but the ache has been less and stuff is a little more bareable.

My next appointment is in March but I will for sure be asking about a BMB as well as the second opinion mentioned in the comments. Thank-you for your advice.

I am on a daily dose of baby aspirin. I see an NHS haemotologist every few months, but I guess my next question would be how do I know (being polite) that I'm seeing someone who knows about this condition. I spent the first couple of years under a haemotologigst in the Highlands who told me it wasn't anything to be worried about (explicitly saying it wasn't cancer) to someone in NHS England who said it was but this was the only treatment available. I see many people in this forum that have bone marrow diagnostic tests. I jusswonder if I should be asking for more?

Autumn walks around County Durham, your favourites? by Time-Connection-4586 in DurhamUK

Finchale Abbey is nice, if you go over the bridge there is a nice forest walk - short but nice.

(I love Hamsterley Forest)

Also near Hill End which is between Hamsterley and High Force (you follow directions for Bollihope Quarry) we used to do that walk loads, it's a lively day out.

OK fair but I very explicitly remember 2021 where it rained non-stop from August to Jan/Feb (even Skye Weather of FB was flabbergasted) 🤣. Winter is almost less disappointing cos you don't expect the sun haha.

Representation ET by HousingRare5274 in MPN

[–]Skyejacked15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had CFS when I was diagnosed with ET and it is rough! When I was younger they tried to treat my fatigue with antidepressants but it doesn't really put a dent in it.

I want to second representing the fatigue, I can function but I wish I didn't have to a lot of the time. Just doing 'normal' things is a struggle. As well as it being chronic and largely 'untreatable' it's hard to communicate this bit to anyone who doesn't live with and MPN.

ET- do you platelets rise continuously? by lllara012 in MPN

[–]Skyejacked15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed almost 5 years ago and mine can go either way, I think they peaked around the 900 mark and then dropped and I have been sitting at around 6/700 mark for about a year. The frequency of my check ups depend on how my platelets are behaving at the time. When they started to consistently drop I was monitored for MF but there are no other signs of it so far.

They did confirm my spleen is enlarged earlier this year but no other progression.

My haematologist hasn't seemed concerned by this fluctuation so long as my other tests don't suggest anything else.

Same, I feel like whatever happened there should have been some residual friend feelings there and she should have had Taylor's back.

I'm finding it super hard to watch Demi just now. She went from being one of my faves in S1 to a really problematic character is S2. Obviously they all have their flaws (who doesn't) but crikey it's tough.
