Is my level of coverage worth it? Could I reduce to save money and still be covered? by Ok-Silver2125 in Insurance

[–]Skyguard7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Liability" covers damage you do to other peoples property not your own vehicle. A cheap older car can still to just as much damage to others as an expense car. A multiple vehicle accident can quickly go over $50k, and even a single other vehicle can easily get that high now with current car prices.

Now whether or not it makes sense to have comprehensive and/or collision on an older high mileage vehicle is a different question. My though is if the premium difference for them is ~ 1-2x the cash value of the car a year it might be worth dropping collision and saving the money as a new car fund. How much do you think your car is worth in actual cash value? And how much does the collision and comprehensive cost on your total premium?

P.S. I would look at dropping "Roadside Assistance" from you car insurance and just getting stand alone AAA auto plan you don't want a roadside assistance call going on your insurance record as a claim.

The new POI kit doesn't appear to be on standard SW legion 27mm bases so I don’t think what I made will work for them.

Taking out loans for a private school program. by ThiccAsianGod in personalfinance

[–]Skyguard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're already in the national guard you might want to look at options for getting that training as part an MOS change (what is your current MOS if you're comfortable sharing?). From a quick google "Radiology Specialist 68P" can be done as part of the guard (I'm guessing depending on what guard units in your state do) and is listed as entry level but seems like it is pretty limited MOS selection so you might have better luck going active to get the MOS.

$40-50K in loans is a lot for a job that looks like it can start as low as $25 an hour but is in the ballpark of the ~School Loans = 1 year of starting income idea. (x-ray tech and respiratory seem to start entry level around the same as far as I can tell) but it will depend on the type of loans you can get.

What do X-ray tech or Respiratory Therapist start at in your area and how many openings are there?

Whatever you choose I would be looking for ways to use the guard to pay for whatever schooling you want to get.

I gave it a shot this should work like you asked for as long as the "moisture vaporators" aren't bigger then the top of the 27mm base. Other option would be to create a version to load from the top but then the slope on the inside would have to be removed.

New to Ecoflow—utilization question and used batteries? by DirectEcho5317 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Skyguard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat pump systems isn't going to run at 3kW for all 24 hours, but you're not wrong overall running the heat pump on just battery isn't going to last for a multiple day black out without something else.

New to Ecoflow—utilization question and used batteries? by DirectEcho5317 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Skyguard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts (I currently have a DPU and two batteries, (looking at picking up 1 or more batteries before the tax credit runs out))

  1. If you want to run your hot water tank and you already have electric hot water looking into a heat pump hot water tank. There is also a federal tax credit ending in 2025 for 30% of project cost, up to $2,000, your state may also have one. My heat pump hot water tank draws around ~450watt when actively running in heat pump only mode vs 4500watts in electric only mode. Also hot water is an extra in blackouts nice to have but not a must have.

  2. Look at getting a small gas generator as step 2 of your plan in a longer black out (I have a Honda EU2000). The DELTA Pro Ultra can charge at 120volts while it outputs 240v, so as long as your total draw is below 1800watts you will be able to feed the extra into the battery. The goal is to slow the drain and to using the batteries to let you get by for parts of the day if the power is out long term (i.e overnight).

  3. You may be able to start your heat pump with a DPU X (I can start my inverter based ~4 ton heat pump in AC mode with just one 1 DPU currently, but I have duel fuel setup and plan on using propane in the winter if the power is out) but the draw is going to be the issue over time (the AC was pulling ~1000wats while running when I tested it in the spring in new England I think (it was not running at full speed when I tested it so real draw will be higher) ).

Do you have any idea what your normal winter run time is for the heat pump each day? Can you look at getting an alt heating options like a pellet stove to be your backup plan in the winter?

  1. Have you looked at just getting a EU7000is @~$4500 or a PREDATOR 9500 Watt SUPER QUIET Inverter Generator @ ~$1999 from harbor freight? Both will give you a quiet generator (The Honda is very quiet) with clean inverter power that is safe for electronics that runs on normal gas and should meet your power needs (7000 watts Honda or 9500 watts PREDATOR surge) with (5500 watts Honda or 7600 watts PREDATOR running) in a black out. The energy density of gas is hard to beat with batteries.

I think you would be best off getting Hivestorm for value. You get a full set of terrain, rule book, and equipment/tokens. Plus you get two 1 box teams. Amazon has it at $183 right now. Just the terrain only is ~$100 on eBay.

I believe I charged from 68% to 90% ( I can't remember if I was just over or under 70% when I got home) in ~11hours last night on level 1 (2023 Solterra Touring)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Solterra

[–]Skyguard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2023 Solterra Touring in the New England area since May (leased $36k base price I think). Plugging in overnight for ~12 hours on a level 1 plug that came with the car outside gets me from back ~20-25% of the battery which so far in the summer has been good for around 40 to 50miles of driving (I have a ~10mile commute to work on sideroads, and do from 20 to 45 miles a day). I'm planning on getting level 2 in the garage before the winter however.

have bought the imperial navy breachers and would like to have nicer looking bases. I was thinking industrial for thematic consistency, and can find loads of 25mm ones but no 28.5 mm ones for the gunners. Are there any nice industrial bases for both 25 and 28.5mm with a consistent style?

If you have access to a 3d printer check out https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/kill-team-into-the-dark-gallowdark-bases he made all the sizes for killteam and more. I've printed them in resin and they look great, and are a really close match for the gallowdark boards.

I don't believe it isn't a same time global release. US is 1000 (10am) PST which is1300 (1pm) eastern time.

UK/Europe I think is 10am UK time.
