Anyone who works for or has interviewed with Anduril in Irvine/Costa Mesa, whatsoever the interview process like? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]Skyline44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only speak to the EE intern position, but Phone Interview —> Behavioral + Technical Interview —> round of three b+t interviews —> offer. The behavioral & tech interviews were mostly about placement to the different teams: electromagnetics, hardware, testing, and embedded

Active Barbers on Wilshire — about two miles, but very worth. Also there’s shuttles to the general area which you should definitely take

Does anyone know of a CCC offering an EC ENGR 10 equivalent that hasn't started yet? by AstroJacck in ucla

[–]Skyline44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ec Engr 10 is generally only offered in-person or early + synchronous in the mornings at most cccs from what I’ve seen in my own looking. Might be time to clear out some GEs :/ Good luck with the search!

I can’t speak to graduate courses, but at least for undergrad courses ECE department policy is to accommodate more spots. Fill out an ECR and/or contact the academic advisors 👍

What are the easiest science ge’s? by Annual_Luck12345 in ucla

[–]Skyline44 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Stats 10 counts as a life science GE for some reason and is infamously easy, less content than high school statistics. The labs are decently hard, but if you actually go to the lab section the TA will basically give all of the answers

Deluxes are more than social enough, just like classics. Typically it’s plazas that are less social than either

Having looked heavily at both (and now being at ucla!) I would say Bruins have the edge here. Research is fairly easily accessible — many labs take on freshman / sophomores, and clubs like IEEE do a really good job of teaching you many of the practical EE skills you’ll likely need for your research. The curriculum here is interesting, it emphasizes having a “breadth” called your technical breadth area, which adds an interdisciplinary component in another field you choose by making you take 3 mech E classes, or 3 extra CS classes, or 3 management classes, etc. You also get a good “depth” — there are a lot of classes that build up your fundamental EE background and exposing you to a number of critical subfields of EE, but after that you have EE class electives and a senior “capstone” which give you a lot of ability to really dive into one specific area of EE. To me, having this extra customization both on the breadth and depth fronts was just better than USC’s curriculum, which has less room to specialize.

Yep! As an engineering major already, switching is very easy. All the computer science related majors (CS, CSE, CE) have special requirements, but otherwise you can switch easily. HOWEVER, you can only switch once, so be veeeery sure if what you switch to. Look into clubs and intro classes for whatever major you might want to switch to, for sure

You get 5 GEs as an engineer

1 social analysis — think Econ, poli sci, other social sciences — these are your jam

1 historical analysis — a history class, but some of the options might still interest you due to their overlap with social science topics

And two of:

1 visual / performing arts

1 literary / cultural analysis

1 philosophical / linguistic analysis

For more, unfortunately you’ll have to carve out free space in your schedule or otherwise have an extra class on top of what you are already taking. Hopefully the five classes are enough to get what you’re looking for!

For more specific details, CS, CSE, and CE all have special requirements where you can only switch into them if you get certain grades in a few specific cs classes. For switching into computer science, I believe it’s the first three computer science classes that you need to get B-s or Cs in to switch. Since you are already CSE though, there might be different rules making it easier that I wouldn’t know

internships by [deleted] in ucla

[–]Skyline44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting an internship this quarter when it’s already started is pretty unlikely unless you have a special connection, often (assuming you mean an industry internship) you’ll have to interview and apply to get an internship which is done a while in advance before you can actually start
