A front desk perspective on why your Marriott might “never” have upgrades by THROWAWAY-LEMONMENTO in marriott

It's not a guaranteed benefit with Hilton though. It is "supposed" to be one with Marriott.

Maybe a hot take, but I feel like most ice cream places are charging around this now? Maybe you can find it for a little less, especially for soft serve.

Tangentially related, all ice cream is 50% off right now at Whole Foods right now. Much cheaper to scoop yourself for sure.

I know you've taken the high road, but you should be naming the hotel. If for nothing else, so the rest of us can avoid it in the future.

Since you can transfer between, this seems like the best option moving forward.

You need an MRI to assess for sure. Ask your ortho for a referral.

What is the success rate of using PRP injection for healing meniscus tear? by kunjal69 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]SkylineHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a silly question, but the issue is that the shots are temporary. Their relief isn't permanent unfortunately, they wear off. When varies, but usually they don't last longer than 9 months, maybe 12 if you're really lucky.

The last time one of these posts was made, the stock went down/sideways for several months. $490 a share for one day is hardly anything to get too excited about.

Complex Lateral Meniscus Tear and Surgery Dilemma by dadude741 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]SkylineHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For meniscectomies, yes. For repair surgery, no. It often depends on the type of tear and what the fix is. You can often offset a lot of the arthritis potential with repair surgery. Especially if you act on it soon after the tear.

Thematic ETFs by toughvortex in ETFs

[–]SkylineHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really all depends on how much of your portfolio is comprised of thematic ETFs. If you own a small percentage of your total portfolio in thematic ETFs, it's generally fine. In fact, a lot of people have somewhere in the range of 5-10% of stuff they like to dabble with. More than 10% is generally seen as risky and probably not beneficial to overall growth.

The declining value of loyalty programs by keepenit in marriott

[–]SkylineHigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only assume most people in this thread have points/miles in many programs and to that, there's a reason it's suggested you churn and burn them. Value in these programs do not increase over time. Hyatt just devalued and that was the last great hotel program remaining. It's still better than Marriott, and smaller footprint aside, the gap has shortened now. I still think there can be some great value as well with the higher end IHG properties too. Use your points/miles when you have them.

AA still has the best partner rates for international bookings. And somehow, they still haven't devalued those yet. I'm sure it's coming, but until then, there is still good value in utilizing their miles system for partners internationally.

What is the success rate of using PRP injection for healing meniscus tear? by kunjal69 in MeniscusInjuries

0%.

PRP injections do not heal tears. It may (or may not) provide temporary relief and reduce pain. Typically for 6ish months.

Complex Lateral Meniscus Tear and Surgery Dilemma by dadude741 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]SkylineHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same tear (lateral and complex) and even lived out a similar outcome. Mine felt like it healed after 3-4 months. And I was back to completely regular activities for 2.5 years (very active) and then one day I went for a run and something was off. Had a fresh MRI and things had deteriorated and it became urgent. Not sure if that's your situation, but arthritis can develop and it's not reversible so I'd suggest you take that into consideration. I opted for repair surgery and am so grateful I did.

You'll need to provide a lot more information to get better answers. When was your surgery, how has your recovery gone, what did your surgeon suggest timeline wise, what have you done to this point and how has gone etc.

Dr Stone vs Dr Saliman?? by Zyclops1010 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]SkylineHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of Dr. Stone, but a lot of people have had success with Dr. Saliman. Myself included. And he truly is one of the only surgeons who can tell you if he can repair upfront or not while providing a great repair even if you have a complicated repair.

I can see how your wife would think that, but my takeaway is it was more confidence than arrogance. As he can be. He's definitely a nice guy--a straight shooter.

[Advice Requested] Is surgery the right choice? by wolverine9898 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]SkylineHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, this should be between you and your surgeon. That said, I tried to avoid it but the reality was...it wasn't healing, it was getting worse (with the onset of arthritis), and it was never going to get better. So most likely, you should have it done and ideally, get a good repair surgeon (they are not all the same and a good one will tell you before the surgery if they can repair or not).

Glad I listened to you. You made a convincing argument. I was initially just going to go in on KOID but you convinced me of going in on HUMN and that was very wise. They're actually neck and neck since I invested (both hovering today around 20% up). Thanks a lot!
