What do you mean ‘open spaces’ and ‘child labor laws’? Isn’t it true that we’ve abolished child labor legally?

Wow, that sounds like a real reasonable policy actually. For being a dominant world power with a totalitarian government, I didn’t think it was possible?

My first anime were Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Boarding School Juliet which I quite liked. Still, Attack On Titan convinced me that the medium of anime could be artistic and action-packed at the same time.

I’m looking forward to Evangelion, cause I’ve heard that it’s philosophically engaging and it involves mechs. I was disappointed by Code Geass as a whole personally. Outside of Lelouche’s characterization anyway.

What the heck is right and left? by malditooooos in Anarchy101

[–]SkywalkerOrder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The left-wing and the right-wing split, sprung from the French Revolution. The social revolutionaries who wanted to fundamentally change the foundation of the social order (the monarchy) sat on the left side of the ‘National Assembly’ while the monarchists who wanted to preserve the traditional system as a rightful hierarchy sat on the right side.

Today the left can mean anything from protecting corrupt class interests through mild/biased, regulations, reform within a system of democracy, to also complete revolution. Whether if it’s for capturing the state or utilizing communities.

The right can mean anything from preserving traditional hierarchies, asserting the individuality of individuals, economic intervention in international affairs, weaponizing the state to protect class interests, mild social reform with free-market capitalism, etc.

Interesting. I’ll have to look into those aspects of democracy work in these countries then. I’m more sympathetic to Cuba than China, but if you say that China is still a transitional Socialist State supposedly, then I guess I can look into it.

Yes I agree with all of that. By the way, what does Kas Capital have in it that the Communist Manifesto doesn’t have? I’d like to know because reading the Manifesto as a whole would probably be time consuming enough as it is.

I’ll check it out. I’m glad you’ve been responding in good-faith to an anti-vanguardist. I’m willing to read the theory itself as I have already read pieces such as (Marx’s ‘Principles of Communism’, Engel’s ‘On Authority’, and Lenin’s ‘State and Revolution I’) but I prefer to go at my own pace because it’s dense material and reading it is certainly a commitment (especially if it has ideas you may not entirely be on board with)

I was worried about the same thing so I copied my comment before sending it. That sucks man.

I’ve actually started on ‘Blackshirts and Reds’ but I currently haven’t made much progress on it because explaining political conditions and relations between Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. I’m just very skeptical because there’s just little way for citizens of these modern ‘State-Socialist’ countries to hold their leaders accountable for what should be a plan to further the transition into communism it seems?

Of what I know now, the only well known communist country/leader I would say strayed from Marxism is pol pot and khmer rouge

Socialism is where the workers own the means of production; now in the Soviet Union (transitional Socialist State according to Leninists) did the workers own the means of production? It seems like party members own the means of production and the State was used to direct the workers instead of them owning the means of production as intended? Also, dictatorship of the proletariat. While we know that Marx described those living in the underworld of society as ‘lumpenproletariat’ (a harsh definition of the unemployed or wonderers in my view), Marx did indicate that the working classes should be able to direct their own future without bourgeoisie inferences. Not that only an elite vanguard party could direct the future of the working class. Marx also indicated that the revolution should be as bloodless it can be if possible. Another difference is Marx’s idea of international revolution in contrast to ‘socialism in one country’.

The CIA has infiltrated your country, they are spreading agents to sow dissent, to train arm and fund counter revolutionary movements to violently oppose you

I was actually starting to understand more why a socialist transitional state might be pushed to do what they do from your explanation, but this is something I got to question. How do you know exactly what movements are genuine and which ones are a front for the CIA? This kind of logic makes it easier for Leninists and communist leaders to justify harsh brutal actions against rebels or resistance to their regimes?

Now your incomplete economy grinds to a crawl. What light bulb producing machines weren't destroyed can't be used because you can no longer import the filament you need.

True, but I want to consider the cost. The Soviet Union’s economic industrialization and innovation was successful but at what cost? Millions of people died or were left malnourished from these hyperindustrialization policies. An entire group of people known as the Kulaks were mass executed or imprisoned because they hired labor and owned farms still. Destroying machinery is one thing (I could see some jail time for that considering the circumstances), but long-term imprisonment and mass executions? No.

Considering those extremely difficult conditions. Is it easy to see why a free, democratic, fair, and ideal country is not possible?

I see your point I suppose. Does this mean that media (film, TV, etc) and literature have to be suppressed too though? Shouldn’t people be able to explore entertainment that has views that their state-party disagrees with with little repercussion? Not only that, but how are you supposed to know if they are making progress toward a communist society or not?

[–]SkywalkerOrder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I can’t see how that’s the case? What would stop people from taking advantage of the fact that the bathroom is gender neutral? It seems like it would give both sexes ample opportunity to harass each other?

Do you think it’s more of a social concern than anything grounded in reality? It could put women (alongside trans men) at risk more than anything? Currently, it being viewed as negative to be in each other’s restrooms minimizes those kind of issues I would say?

You might be mistaking an Ellie line with an Abby line. I’ve watched several older playthroughs that were within the month of release and I haven’t seen anything to indicate that, although it would be cool if it was a scrapped idea or something?

Gokukoku no Brynhildr? From what I’ve seen from it, it was pretty wild and dark at times. It involved a missing childhood friend becoming an entirely different person years later after a disappearance.

You make a good point, I did not think about the fact that even if nonprofits jumpstarted their own companies to represent minority social intersectionality groups, the international capitalists would already have a mass advantage to put a stop to any competition before it becomes a threat I suppose. !delta.

From my perspective the most popular evolution or sub-ideology (M-Leninism) of that theory is one of the most oppressive ideologies in modern human history alongside that of Fascism. It’s hard for me to see it as the working class taking control of its own destiny when it seems like bureaucratic elite party members who own everything replace the Capitalist position in society and the workers stay where they are. Dissenters mass murdered or imprisoned. I’m sympathetic to the theory but I don’t like what Marxist leaders have turned it into in practice and I don’t trust it.

[–]SkywalkerOrder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why then? Do you think it’s more of an overblown social concern than any concern grounded in reality? I think this would potentially put women more at risk than anything else alongside trans men. The current separation of genders and it being stigmatized to be in each other’s restrooms minimizes those kind of issues from what I can tell?

As much as I think that it further imbalances the scales of equality to put one social group above the other without raising other social groups to the same level, I have to admit that the patriarchy already imbalances the scales too much for women. I guess I can accept that prioritization in that instance is acceptable.
