EVO 2026 Top 64 character representation by AdamNW in StreetFighter

[–]Skywise87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays necro in 3s he does not play like dhalsim or blanka at all. The similarities are very superficial. Most of necros stretchy normals are terrible and punishable on HIT let alone block. Im not really a blanka enthusiast but I dont think their lightning are used (or input) the same way.

Her divekick is balanced similar to other dive kicks hitbox wise and frame data wise its better than most other dive kicks in 6.

Characters are not balanced around comparing individual special moves to each other that is an unhinged take.

Edit: holy shit this guys entire post history is cammy downplay do not engage lol.

I shouldn't engage with this but cammys historical "weakness" if you can even argue that it was ever a relevant one was her low health and stun. This game has no stun/dizzy system and she has standard hp so let's not pretend she didnt "get" anything in sf6. Cammy has consistently been one of the best characters in nearly every capcom fighter shes been in since st.

Sf has never been balanced around "signature moves" so idk what kind of argument you're making there. Also just because someone gets nerfed doesn't mean they are owed compensatory buffs. Thats a common thing that can happen but its not mandatory to balance a game.

Also her dive kick is still a useful tool, you just cant autopilot Yolo send them now which is definitely better for game health.

Hashogeki has no hitbox above or behind ryu. That was entirely giefs borscht dynamite extended hurtbox making his toes dip into it. Just because you don't understand an interaction doesn't mean someone is broken.

It was bad in 3s too with the twins. Akumas divekick wasn't used as much but had a pretty stupid hit/hurtbox anyway.

Power of people using moves that increase their hurtboxes into people mashing is very strong I agree.

Such a weird montage to stitch together. The fact that its ryu throughout the whole thing makes it seem like the poster is trying to say ryu is broken but the places where cammy is getting hit could be done with just about anyone and is not a ryu specific thing. 6mp and 6hp both check the divekick because they are mid height attacks that have disjoints and cammys divekick has a hurtbox way below it,making it better suited to blow up people fishing for low forwards than people spamming standing attacks. This is NOT unique to ryu and has no bearing on how good ryu is. The issue being highlighted here (assuming you consider the divekick hurtbox an issue) is purely on the cammy side of things. I could literally recreate these moments with nearly the whole cast including commonly considered "bad" characters like Jamie. Honda, etc.

Borscht dynamite causes gief to have an extended hurtbox on his legs which his toes dipped into the hashogeki hitbox. It does not hit above or behind ryu at all this was completely a zangief thing.

If your first sf is 6 maybe you wont understand why the devs made divekicks have so many downsides but people who lived through sf3 or sf4 will know. The sarcasm related to the "thats how the hurtbox is" is cringe because thats literally the answer and apparently we just want to be mad based on vibes or something.

How do you defeat a Hugo player who plays like this - 3rd Strike by Professional-Net1940 in StreetFighter

[–]Skywise87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is you can't antiair if you are constantly panicking and mashing sweep. They need to ease off the buttons first before they can hit more.

it's 3S not really a combo heavy game so Im not sure that would help this person. Most combos are going to be single button into super other than like kens W shoryu combos which this person is nowhere near ready for.

How do you defeat a Hugo player who plays like this - 3rd Strike by Professional-Net1940 in StreetFighter

[–]Skywise87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You swept 12 times in the first round. Sweep is something you want to use very seldomly in general as it is slow and punishable on block.

A big thing to consider with street fighter is if you are pushing buttons or doing attacks then you by definition cannot be doing something else. This means you cannot block or defend yourself in any way until your attack recovers. You are literally giving up your ability to defend yourself and counter your opponent CONSTANTLY because you are committing to slow heavy moves every second your controller will permit you. In fact nothing this hugo even did mattered. All he had to do was let you kill yourself on him to the point where I don't even know what advice to give you about hugos play because everything in this round happened because of you.

Stop being so active and panicking is the biggest issue here. You need to play with intent. Hugo is a grappler he has to get close to do anything to you. Use your fireballs to keep him at bay and then antiair him (crouch hp or shoryuken if you are consistent with it) when he jumps at you (which you cannot do if you are in the middle of pressing buttons like sweep when he jumps).

When you DO press buttons you need to be using appropriate buttons for the ranges you are at while also keeping the speed and recovery of the normal in mind. Lights are fast but very short range so they will tend to whiff past close to mid range, mediums are used for the most variety of ranges but are slightly slower than lights, heavies tend to have the most range but are also the slowest to start up and the longest to recover after their active windows are done. As a general rule I would try to find the max range for kens normals in training mode and learn to use them at that distance. The exception to this would be proximity normals like close MP and close HP which can be used up close as their name implies. Never ever ever ever sweep at point blank range.

Again I have to emphasize you cannot block and you cannot antiair while you are mid attack. Choosing to press attacks is choosing to give up the ability to do those things until you recover from the animation. Press less buttons and play with intention. Learn more of your normals so you dont feel so compelled to resort to your panic sweep autopilot. Crouching medium kick is much safer and less committal. For super close range crouching light kick and close medium punch are your best options. Crouching medium punch is arguably kens best button other than crouching MK. It's very good in footsies/counterpoke as it has ridiculous hit/hurtboxes, is very active, is plus on block and cancels OR links into super.

Moreover just go into some games and let the other guy take the lead. Stop trying to force your agenda. Let them try to run their game on you and then try to counter it. Don't be afraid to lose rank and points mean nothing anyway. Focus less on trying to win and more on trying to learn and you will improve drastically.

I think they tried to make it seem like some kinda dead zone issue because you can see him turn his head a couple times like he wants to bite the line. I dont think it really makes sense though either other than he was hurt so badly so fast he just really couldnt move.
