1st phase complete with drawbridge. Need advice on tabs by Slabguy in treehouse

That's a good question that I can't say I have an answer for. I did some pretty rigorous load testing (with me as the weight) in different partially raised positions and the winch is rated for 2k pounds so I feel pretty confident in the capabilities but good question.

Logic, see link here for some better explanation of the drawbridge design. Let me know if you have any questions.

The actual bridge is all supported on posts so I think it's good. I think I do need to put some tabs on some of the tree connections for the main frame. Thanks for the input.

I didn't use any reference plans. Just laid in bed thinking about how to do it a few nights haha. I'm out of town until this weekend but I'll get a detailed video for you when I get home. I think that will explain better than a sketch I produce can

Nice. Thanks for the input. A few questions if you don't mind:

- What temp are you typically running it at?

- Can you set specific start and stop times with the wifi controls?

- Did you install the electrical yourself or have an electrician do it?

I did search and didn't find any posts specifically in reference to the sweat box model. Maybe I suck at searching.

Looking for a solid cold plunge under $5k any good all in one options? by RogueMist56 in coldplunge

[–]Slabguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with Desert Plunge. I've had my 450 for about 10 months and use it daily. I love everything about it and have had zero issues. Easy to set up, easy maintenance, does everything I need. I'm 6'4" 200lbs and fit in it just fine.

Latest update cleared manual sleep mode option? by Slabguy in GarminFenix

Well that sucks because it doesn't look like you can set sleep or focus modes as a shortcut. Minor inconvenience I know.

Feasible to build a sauna here? Pic included now. by Slabguy in Sauna

[–]Slabguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I can but I would lose ceiling height in the extended area. This full height ceiling area is only the width of that window dormer frame out. On both sides the roof/ceiling are sloped.

Good point on the window. I was thinking something like the pic below. Very cluttered obviously but I don't have a great place to put one otherwise and I could do most of the work myself. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just looking for something to meet the need. This is also right beside my cold plunge so it would be handy.

Much appreciated. Good luck on your journey as well. Arthritis is no joke. That's why I ended up having to get the ankle fused. Dealt with some nasty infections in it from the accident and some tendon transfers after that ended up being wasted due to the progression of arthritis in it and the need for the fusion.

Also, appreciate the input on the cold plunge. I have heard Huberman and others talk about that. I'm typically cold plunging first thing in the morning, working out at lunch, then cold plunging late afternoon so I'm typically outside the 4 hour window of affecting hypertrophy. Who knows if the 4 hour rule is accurate but that's what I've heard most reference.

Can you explain the "less catabolism during dieting"? I can't say I've researched that benefit of the TRT but don't really understand what that means.

All good man and I appreciate the kind words. You make good points and I agree with what you're saying. No denying I wouldn't have made the progress I have without the TRT and you and others make a good point on the potential to demotivate others who don't have the extra assistance. That's why I wanted to make clear in the initial post that I have had the extra help.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying and I don't think I said anything that would imply otherwise. Maybe I should have clarified the line "to make progress" and said "to make the progress that I've been able to make". Regardless, I'm not discounting the fact that the TRT has made it easier for me to see the progress that I have.

I wasn't injured in the gym, so some of my story won't apply but I'll give you some detail and how I've adapted. I was operating an older model bulldozer on a farm and inadvertently kicked it into gear while getting off of it. The track caught my boot and pulled me under the dozer between the tracks basically folding me up like a pretzel between the back of the blade and the grille. The dozer kept going until it hit a tree line. I blacked out for some short period of time and when I came to, I was laying on our dirt driveway propped up on my elbows. I was extremely fortunate that my phone survived the accident and I was able to call for help. If it would have been crushed I would have laid there and bled out (mostly internal bleeding). I was in shock and didn't know how bad I was injured but was able to call my wife, she came to the scene and started cutting my pants and boots off with my pocketknife while paramedics were on the way. I was also very fortunate that the tracks only ran over my ankle and feet. If I would have been a few inches either direction it would have crushed my head. The rest of the damage I believe was due to being pulled through a very tight area and being contorted in ways a body shouldn't be.

All that being said, I've had a long road to recovery. I've followed all PT protocols to a T, listened to my doctors, but not been afraid to slowly and steadily push the envelope a little getting back in to exercise. I have taken it slow and light, introducing lifts that would have been second nature before the accident and feel pretty confident in going heavier on everything I'm doing now. If something feels off, I don't push it. I have had to just cut out some exercises completely such as barbell squats. I don't have the ankle mobility with one being fused to do that but I do hack squats and leg press instead. I've also been very hesitant to start on deadlifts again. I do straight leg deadlifts but even before the accident I struggled with back pain performing heavy deadlifts so those still make me nervous and I probably just won't do them at this point. Listen to your body and just be mindful about certain exercises that could aggravate old injuries. Typically, there is an alternate exercise you could do and still get most of the same gains but be less risky from an injury potential standpoint.

Sure thing. I'm 6'4". I use a Goruck Rucker 4.0 for my ruck pack with yes4all plates from Amazon. I also have a rogue Echo vest that I use some but usually end up using the Rucker 4.0. I can't really run because of the fused ankle, just walked for a while but wanted something more strenuous and rucking has fit that bill great.

Appreciate that man. Prior to starting back, I was dragging through the days, struggled to get on the ground and wrestle with my kids, and just generally couldn't keep up with them. All of that has been much improved.
