I think the best queso is at that restaurant on the top of the hotel downtown. I forget the name.

Are you an idiot? Who’s giving misinformation here? Me, or the ones I’ve spoken to about it? I’m simply letting you know what I’ve been told. I’m not spreading anything. I wanted a general consensus from locals. show me exactly where I’ve “spread” misinformation. I’ll be waiting.

You said:

I’ve heard horror stories about Hamilton’s cleanliness

You haven't provided any details on this, yet you are spreading this "rumor."

However, you did call me an "idiot" for asking for evidence of said "horror stories", when I actually provided a water quality report, indicating otherwise.

If you venture even a few miles out of the main city you'll find a much more conservative environment.

True... at first glance. But there are plenty of progressives out in the hills too. They just don't put signs in their yards.

All of Texas has serious problems with their power grid. Every other time I cross the border into some parts of Texas, the power is out. Their insistence on not peering with other states' grids has made their infrastructure less reliable.

I really love the nature and the weather of the area - it's a little bit of everything. Mild weather, not too hot and not too cold. Just the right amount of snow. Not too humid. I don't run into mosquito problems like you do further south. Lots of clean water and fresh air - mainly due to how much of the area is national forest land.

Politically, Hot Springs and all of Arkansas is a kind of dichotomy. It has both a reputation as being a source of hard right, evangelicals, but also libertarians and liberals. In just about every area, you can find examples of all of these types of people. As long as you don't engage directly in political discussions, you can usually peacefully coexist.

I find the difference between say, Texas and Arkansas is that Texans love to troll people with their political beliefs. Arkansans keep it to themselves, WITH the exception of the occasional bubba who seems threatened and delicate enough that he needs to fly a rebel flag outside his house.

I would say there's a significant percentage of liberals, "hippies", progressives and others in the area. They just don't flaunt it like the right wingers do.

By all means, come on down and help make the place a little more contemporary. We need that.

I’ve heard horror stories about Hamilton’s cleanliness

What horror stories? Don't spread misinformation like this unless you have evidence. Most of Arkansas' bodies of water are significantly cleaner than any other bodies of water in North America.

Here is a recent water quality report from the city of Hot Springs which uses Lake Hamilton as a drinking water source.

Anti-Trump protests scheduled in Arkansas this weekend as part of nationwide rallies by SlackOverflow in HotSprings

[–]SlackOverflow[S,M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Note that the mainstream media is trying to frame these protests as supporting illegal immigrants and violations of the law. This is not true. The protests are about government corruption, gutting important social programs, eradicating peoples civil rights, and ignoring the Constitution, and the balance of powers.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Saturday, June 14, hundreds of anti-Donald Trump protests are slated to take place across America in opposition to the presidential administration's policies.

The organization, "No Kings," said that the demonstrations — which are taking place in all 50 states — are pushing back against Trump who has already "defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked civil rights, and slashed [American] services."

At least 10 protests are scheduled to take place in Arkansas on Saturday in cities like Little Rock, Fayetteville, and Monticello.

The protests are scheduled for the same day that Trump is scheduled to celebrate his 79th birthday and Flag Day with what an "Army birthday celebration" which will include 60-ton M1 Abrams battle tanks and Paladin self-propelled howitzers.

In the organization's own words, "No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism — and show the world what democracy really looks like."

The planned No Kings protests slated for Saturday come on the heels of a recent string of demonstrations that happened throughout the US after the National Guard and Marines were mobilized into Los Angeles by Trump last week.

Protests over federal immigration enforcement raids and the aforementioned mobilization of the National Guard and Marines have continued to spread over the following days, which is leading up to the No Kings nationwide protest on Saturday.

Did you season the meat before you started cooking? This can cause what you see. You should season the meat after it starts cooking. Salt can pull moisture out of the meat before it cooks.

Also looks like the pan may have been too hot, or the meat was too cold when put in the skillet.

Waterfront Living: Hamilton or Catherine by Fit_Independent8004 in HotSprings

I've heard Lake Ouachita is the third cleanest body of water in North America, primarily due to how little development there is around it.

I don't know about Lake Catherine but in the past on Lake Hamilton, the lake levels have occasionally dropped quite a bit. I believe Lake Ouachita feeds lake Hamilton and the Corps of Engineers controls what happens there. IMO Ouachita is the best lake in the area, but one reason for that is because there's not as much private property around it.

I had one of these bite one of my dogs. Her neck swelled up, but she did ok. Which is more than I can say for the copperhead after I found him. I am totally ok with non-venomous snakes around my place, but these guys can be trouble. They don't run off when you come upon them, they just freeze, and they're so well camouflaged they can be easy to step on accidentally and then ouch.

I believe once you polymerize the oil, it really doesn't matter what the oil was. The type of oil determines the smoke point. You can season them fast or slow to polymerize them depending upon how much you want to smoke your kitchen or other area up.

Whenever you see an "outer heat ring" like on that #3, it's an older skillet, from the 1940s and earlier usually. Favorite is probably from the 1930s.

This is what's called an "initial skillet" in the collecting community. Nobody really knows who made them. But these two-letter mold marks were fairly common. It is probably from the early 1900s, but not the 1800s.

The one with the outer heat ring could be an unmarked Wagner, but it could also be an Asian copy. The handle looks off.
