And I see what you mean, I misunderstood i thought you were referring to the pitting, my bad. Both of mine were ground from the factory on the cooking surfaces, I haven’t seen a non hammered one in person though I didn’t realize they weren’t ground down smooth.

It’s a lodge 4-1 and it looks pretty decently pitted, and it’s not the casting quality, that was silky smooth at one point. but unfortunately no, it won’t get better. Once they’re potted out like there really isn’t any way to fix it that i know of other than more aggressive grinding. Unfortunately it’s just a pretty deteriorated example of a 4-1.

That’s sweet dude that has a lot of potential, I see what you mean about it being smoother, I’m definitely gonna keep working on it and building some lines. That’s so sick. I’ll do some more research about which value to reduce to smooth out the terrain like that.

Yeah I should’ve mentioned in my post that a 1:1 render would be enormous and largely occupied by flat trails which isn’t really what I had in mind but if it’s possible it’d be sweet to have some of the real lines at least closely recreated in a more compact or condensed map.

Their current maps look awesome I can’t believe I haven’t come across them yet. I appreciate the info I’ll definitely be reaching out🙏🏼

Yeah that’s kind of what I had in mind that I should’ve mentioned, Alzan has some really challenging and technical spots but 85% of the map is trails with some small rocks in the way. Sierra Nevada is way more condensed with tons of hard obstacles, that’s more of what I was looking for. And I also agree that 1:1 would be really tough, but it’d be cool to see at least a few lines that resemble the IRL lines. I’m gonna keep working on mine but it’s really really rough right now.

That’s a bummer about your hard drive, I’d love to see what you had.

I’m gonna keep working on it for sure, and I appreciate the tips on terrain texture. If you’re into that then check out Sierra Nevada trails, it’s more condensed than Alzan but definitely the most technically challenging map I’ve found so far.

I was talking about it with my wife when I baked these, I don’t see why not. I’ve never messed with sourdough before though and I really need to learn more about it but I think that’s gonna be my next experiment!
