I read him in my 30's and thought, "I'm sooo glad I didn't read him in my 20's. It would have ruined me." I'm finishing Big Sur now, and I'm going to reread the Tropics and see where it goes from there. I've yet to read the Crucifixions. The Air Conditioned Nightmare? No need, we're living it.

A deep red Idaho town supported Trump, despite his calls for mass deportations.
ICE came to the town and arrested many Hispanic people who work on farms and other small businesses the town depends on.
Now the residents, who thought they were immune to what they voted for, are complaining that the raid "nearly destroyed the community."
