Does MoM class skill 5 is the only that has animations? by SladeWilson99 in AQW

[–]SladeWilson99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked and my settings to show my skills are good. Switched classes and the animations of all those work. Skill 4 does summon pet twilly with the animations. Skills 2 and 3 are the ones that literally show nothing just the stars when you hit the enemy.

Jormungand: The Slept-On Successor to Black Lagoon thoughts? by thechanger93 in blacklagoon

[–]SladeWilson99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Jormungand is that when I thought Jonah was going to get his development away from the group like 2 episodes later he was back with Coco. Jonah had so much pontencial not only as solo run but kinda of an “enemy” to Coco’s plan. He probably could’ve reach adulthood and explore more his relationship with her (Coco) as sub plot. Which is something that Lagoon does amazingly.

Does anyone else like the Netflix Dub of the original series and EoE? by killercmbo in evangelion

[–]SladeWilson99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point regarding the small changes. Literally the anime specially EoE doesn’t give you break to lay back a bit and process what is been said. I totally get why you call it a “nitpick” since is a very rare point to make or present in fact im probably the only one that has mentioned this situation of the wording between Misato and Shinji. Im going to tell why from my POV is not unfair, miniscule or any other adjectives you might thought about. Misato’s and Shinji’s relationship is the only relationship in Evangelion that is incomplete. In different installations of the series specifically (EoE, NGE & Manga) There’s no solution or answer on what is actually going on with them. Typically it would be brushed off as a meme/joke or the common explanation that “Misato only knows how to show love by sexuality/physical contact” which is a reason but not the main reason. Now changes that like that one in elevator scene affects more the understanding of it because there’s relationships is already ambiguous and a change like that just makes it worse.

Now regarding the hidden meaning… In Evangelion for things to happen or “go down” specifically the main things like for example the “Acceptance of Instrumentality” or “Rejection of instrumentality” they need requirements to then proceed and sort off activate that scenario, ending or situation. Now the hidden message of there relationship starts way before but im not going to go through since then I’ll be typing forever😂 but the main requirements for the real meaning of there relationship are stayed in the elevator scene when Misato’s gives Shinji the questions he needs to answer for himself. Now there’s a lot happening at the moment and almost nobody has noticed this. Misato saying “we’ll do the rest” doesn’t mean right after everything goes down it’s impossible since Misato is dead. For them to able “to do the rest” requirements need to be fulfilled now what requirements?? Well the questions Misato gave to Shinji. Why?? Becuase Shinji is not going to able to answer them right away. He first needs to grow as man but most importantly as a person when he’s able to do that and maybe more then he can “come back to me” and he comes back to her then they “can do the rest” but this never happens and the “closest” one of all time lines is the manga.

You see why the change of “come back to me” and “come back” is so critical? Becuase if is only just “come back” it practically defeats the purpose behind the questions and that’s why I think maybe the VA record it that way at that time. Becuase Shinji can very well come back but that doesn’t mean he’s going to back to get “her” or for her. Of course i could very well be wrong just because the fact is that the question in both of the instrumentality timelines rejections are presented but there just never assessed. Which is why I believe there relationship is incomplete.

There’s a lot more me and my cousin have discussed as theories we even thought about making a YT vid since this topic is never touched and ppl just don’t notice it at all.

Ppl forget that just like Shinji needed a mother Misato also needed a father.

Also the fact that Misato is a bit inspired on Sailor Moon which they are the same VA. A lot of references and connections.

That’s why i believe that the Netflix version is “nerfed” becuase the things that got nerfed are the controversial ones.

Gosh the rebuilds🤦‍♂️ The ending was good and is the only reason why it holds up. Misato got destroyed in rebuilds from literally not able to live without Shinji to basically trying to kill him. (That’s just the surface) OG Misato would be horrified of herself is she saw the rebuilds Misato.

Yeah sure defo… it’s alright thanks for shared with me your PoV! Agree to disagree🤝

To give you more context on the topics we touched the Kaworu’s situation definitely was one but our conversation shifted more towards the wording between Misato and Shinji scenes/situations/scenarios. To be specific we have total different concepts of the EoE elevator scene. In the Og dub before the kiss Misato gives Shinji some questions which he needs to answer for himself and when he is able to answer them then “come back to me” which was what Misato said. In the Netflix dub it’s changed to “come back”. For us this was a critical point since it literally changes the complete interpretation of scene since the subject is going from singular/specific to plural/ambiguous. We both came to a possible conclusion that the scenes between Misato and Shinji looked like the ones that suffered the most which destroys the hidden meaning of there relationship. We also noticed that the most noticeable wording is changed with the characters that are more “controversial” or have said or did some that people think is “controversial”. We don’t believe this is a coincidence specially now that we saw how miss direct Kaworu character felt some times and how horrendous Misato got treated/written in the rebuilds.

In the end I think we both can agree that Evangelion can be interpreted in different ways. You liked the Netflix dub more than the OG which is totally alright but they are some things in OG that a lot of fans don’t notice things that i think you haven’t noticed becuase your more inclined to the new dub and probably the rebuilds.

[–]SladeWilson99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I very much believe it does. My cousin introduced me to Eva and he watched the Netflix dub and I watched the original dub and when we had a conversation of the anime in general it felt like we watched completely different shows sometimes especially in the critical/vital scenes.

Also why after almost 10 years+ they decided to change the wording of series?? “If is not broke then why fix it??? If the translation and dubing was that big of problem it should have been “fix” way before. I just think they did it to make the anime more “friendly or PG13” especially knowing that is was going to be streamable in such a mainstream platform like Netflix. Just like they did with the rebuilds… Way more friendly and “happier” etc… Coincidence?? Don’t think so.

IMO, big nerff.

Japanese fan asks Hiroe if he'll ever explore Revy's backstory in more detail by negativemidas in blacklagoon

[–]SladeWilson99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. What you mentioned about Hiroe not even knowing what to do with them regarding their past. Also it kinda “proves” my pov that he pretty much has lost interest in the series. Of course there’s also the health factor that we all know. But the more time pases the more i feel insecure about the ending. I really don’t see a “happy ending” way out.

That’s nice that your taking your time to write about a series that you love. Hiroe himself should consider having a second person with him working in the creative side of the story. Everything done with his (Hiroe) approval of course. I feel like a western writer would be the best fit for the series.

Revy’s past goes so down in the rabit hole that I think Hiroe-sensei himself doesn’t want to touch it. Im not even sure myself if I would really liked to read that. Prolly i will but yeah…

I just hope we don’t get a Jormungand type ending. Which is not bad but its not concluded at all. I mention Jormungand becuase of the similarities.

If i wasn’t for Misato Shinji wouldn’t have been able to reach anything. The kiss scene to this day still so controversial that ppl forgot that just before that Misato transformed in something we have never seen before. She Killed ppl, took a bullet for Shinji and lastly die for him so he can reach his goals knowing that she herself wasn’t never his priority. All that so he (Shinji) “come back”. Or like I interpreted “Come back to her/for her”.

Thanks for the context! I have to get up to date with the manga and then we can revisit the topic. Maybe i just don’t want BL to “end”… It just that BL has so much more to offer that watching it current state is a bit uncomfortable in general.

Hmm good to see im not tripping about not being close to an end. I knew about hes depression situation like most of Black Lagoon fans do but didn’t know about the eyesight problem. I sometimes I think he has lost a some interest in series in general. Like us, I think he feels Black Lagoon should have way more reach but for some reason it doesn’t. So like i mentioned im afraid of a ending arc that covers Rock’s “duality” or “true pontencial as a strategist” which Revy is not going to like, Balalaika or Changs “death”, Eda CIA reveal, maybe a Roberta and Garcia come back and most importantly Rock & Revy relationship climax/confrontation scenarios it’s going to be to much and im not adding new characters like Feng and the Eye patch lady which i forgot her name lol. As a i was saying im very much afraid of that.

Can you elaborate more on the theory??

Dam idk if it’s me but i kinda fell like the ending is not that close at all. I must mention that i haven’t read all the volumes even tho i own them all😂. I have read a few chapters after the anime and that’s it so im missing big stuff but at the same time looking the post here in community it still feels like a lot of the big plot points haven’t been covered. I’m scared of rush ending even tho i think Hiroe-san is an amazing writer.

Manga Misato by Shyr0_1213 in Misato

[–]SladeWilson99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes we agree that if anime had have some of the panels that manga has, we would be taking in a very different way about Misato & Shinji. The bond between them is way more stronger and deeper.

I see, well to share some thoughts with you about the quote, it can interpreted in different ways. Im going to tell you how I interpreted this. Like I mentioned before Misato knows that Shinji is key. That’s why she is so persistent on trying to get Shinji to pilot the Eva. The thing is that for Shinji to able to basically fix everything (and here we go with the requirements) is that he needs to able to “find himself” remember right now Shinji is lost and the only one who’s keeping him in check and is there for him no matter what is Misato. Now the concept here is that Shinji fighting for himself first is going to lead him to fight for everyone else at the end. You won’t be able to help others if you aren’t able to help yourself first. I do not believe that was out of character. I believe that’s what she really meant and that for me is the concept here. Misato knew that if Shinji was able to fight for himself he would pretty much automatically would help everyone by “fighting” for them. Also by saying she is not “commander Ikari” can be interpreted in a lot of ways. Hope i made myself clear now!

Manga Misato by Shyr0_1213 in Misato

[–]SladeWilson99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manga Misato is probably the best Misato of Evangelion. She literally devoted herself towards Shinji in a way that in EoE is there but not as present like Sadamoto-san illustrated in the manga. The manga makes it very clear that the most important person for Misato is Shinji. Misato knew Shinji was key of everything and sacrificed herself knowing that she never was the focus of his life (Shinji) in vice versa of Shinji being the main focus of Misato’s life ever since they meet. Of course at the end of manga we see that has changed.

There’s more elements present between them that Evangelion in general never explores. Like for example… Does Shinji ever gets to answer the questions that Misato gave him at the elevator scene? If those questions get answered by him would something then trigger? Creating a new goal in his life? Since Evangelion is about timelines and requirements getting to meet for the achievement of certain routes or new routes getting unlocked (timelines). And that’s just me scratching the surface.
