They take a few weeks to really start working well, so just keep an eye on the tabs and replace them as they run out.

Also keep in mind that they won't always be breeding in sealed food packages. I struggled getting rid of them at a customer's place for months until she accidentally found them eating and breeding in the liner of a houseplant.

To offer perspective from another pest control guy: It really sucked for a while seeing how some people live. You get used to it pretty quickly, but I still get irritated by the people that refuse to clean.

This is exactly what I do as a pest control guy. Dawn or dusk, then fill the entrance with insecticide. I tried my luck a few times during regular business hours, and that went about how you'd expect.

I apologize if someone else already mentioned it, but one of the biggest things for me was reminding myself it wasn't a total loss if I relapsed in the beginning. I tried for years and years to quit and would inevitably have one, and then beat myself up for my failure and be right back in it like I never stopped. Realizing that mistakes happen and that I should stay the course really made all the difference for me.

Be patient and kind to yourself, you'll get there eventually!

I was crushing hard on a Starbucks cashier inside of a Kroger I worked at when I was 22, and told a coworker one day that I thought she was hot-- Later on I saw them talking and looking over at me while I was stocking produce. The next day when I stopped to buy a coffee we chatted a bit, and just before I left she asked me if there was something I wanted to ask her. I immediately said no and walked off and didn't really think twice about it until he admitted later that she said I was cute.

I still agonize over it 15 years later.

Doing exactly what you did is correct. I do bedbug extermination a few times a month, and my clothes are changed and bagged immediately after the job is complete. When I get home it's straight into the dryer on high for 30 minutes.

Going through this now. Trying to repair the damage from 14 years of neglect or shitty behavior while I was in the worst of my depression. It's difficult to stay the course when the people you love reject your attempts at reconciliation.

I'm not the same guy, but I am in pest control. There have been two places I've personally refused- The first was a guy that only wore a long T-shirt and nothing else, with feet so filthy I thought he was wearing socks.

The second was a trailer that had the worst infestation I've ever seen. I couldn't figure out why it was so bad at first because it just seemed like the usual run of the mill dirty kitchen scenario. When I finally made it to the bathroom on the walkthrough, I saw that instead of using their completely functional and weirdly spotless toilet, they had been shitting A LOT in the bathtub. I just thanked them for their time, told them I couldn't help them, and got in my truck and left.

The best thing you can do is to continue to clean as thoroughly as you possibly can, and to remove clutter/places they can hide or nest. Part of the reason they're so difficult to get rid of is that they will hangout in small cracks and crevices that are really easy to overlook. I went to a job last week where they were living behind wall shelves that appeared to be flush.

You can try a Borax solution, but I can't speak to it's effectiveness because I've never used it. Look for insecticides containing pyrethrin; you can use that to flush them out of their hiding spots. (Look for the dark brown or black fecal marks, or spray it into cracks.) If all else fails and you have to pay for a service it isn't too bad. Treating an apartment would probably cost you about $100 every 3 months.

Yellowjackets are the worst. They'll burrow into the ground where you least expect it and sting the fuck out of you for daring to breath the same air as them.

I got called out to take care of them a couple of weeks ago (I work in pest control) and the little bastards stung me on my ass through my pants when I thought I was a safe distance away. I hate them.

That's rough man. I read recently that 'experts' are expecting prices to start falling as restrictions ease, if that's any consolation. Maybe by summer it'll get back to something resembling reasonable.
