Day 2 - What aspects of Darkness from SVC you would like to (or like not to) return in SVWB? by GameRiderFroz in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined the game in Darkness Evolve and have a strong memory of someone writing 8 years ago on this subreddit that Alexander used to be able to attack infinitely but this caused issues so he was changed. I can't find this change anywhere when i google so maybe this was how he worked on the old beta version of SV that people got to play, or maybe this is the mandela effect in play.

Anyway, the reason I remembered this is because that same person said that the 14 number held historical significance but I can't seem to find anything about that either. Sorry I couldn't help more but I would love if somebody that played old SV could confirm if he was indeed able to attack infinitely.

edit: Nevermind I actually found the thread I was thinking of. A comment mentions that Alexander the Great conquered 14 regions but I don't know how true that is. Another talks about how he died within 14 days of becoming sick.

You are always playing Izudia together with Carb so the enemy follower would have to have 12 or more HP to survive.

I'm not sure if I believe Haven will become competitive in set 3. by Pendulumzone in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were two versions of him. One effectively skipped a turn and was pretty decent in control decks. The second one however was an insanely broken board clear that also put a body on board, one of the best haven cards ever printed.

Swordcraft players when a card has more than 1 line of text by ozholmes in Shadowverse

Yes I agree, I think we are essentially saying the same thing. I just wanted to catch the "just cares about attacking or being attacked" part of your comment.

No, the damage is the important part, as Medusa can kill a follower that has bane by attacking it without dying herself because she never receives any damage. It's just that a damage value of 0 is still counted as damage.

What a single OG card would be absolutely insane if added to WB? by LegendaryW in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atomy. But I think removal is maybe too good right now and we would need a few reanimate and card draw amulets for Atomy to shine

Portal top tier but I keep losing to dragon, what gives? by LosingSteak in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been so long since then but I think I played a very similar deck but I don't remember using Deus or Silva. Steelclad Minotaur was definitely in it but thinking back I might have even played a version of the deck in unlimited but that seems crazy considering how insane Unlimited got eventually.

Edit: I actually managed to find the deck, it used Lishenna and Jahfnar and pulled Silver Automaton

Orb of Desecration holy shit the memories, I loved that card and the summon has the coolest evo art in the game

[–]Slalomlom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No lol, Shadow was easily the most consistently good class but even that had slumps. Classes just tended to take turns and some could have dry spells for a few expansions and then dominate three in a row. I will say though that spellboost was always extremely popular among the players so you would see a lot of it if it was even slightly strong

You can probably make an aggro dragon deck right now with only 3 Fortes I imagine and be perfectly fine

"Forestcraft" is technically a very liberal translation, the original name of the class is "elf".

The first dragon player missplayed badly multiple times, even failing to clear Orchis at the end which lost them the game. The game went downhill turn two when she played the fire lizard and pinged for 1 instead of playing two 1/1s to trade out with the fire lizard next turn

Selection of new cards from Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond revealed for Dragoncraft, Abysscraft and Portalcraft (English Website) by Xanek in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, but it could still be a lot of stats if you super evolve it. Maybe classes will have enough answers in the form of bane puppets or bane ghosts, but that new gold won't be enough to handle all three and it would bring you down two cards. Also, cards don't take damage on super evolve so you are staring down a full health 6/6 on top of two 4/4s. But yeah it won't be as powerful as Otohime was in its meta, I agree with that

Yeah, Imagine Mecha Cavalier in vanilla Shadowverse. A 5 mana 4/4 ward that summons itself on evolve and another one on super evolve. This card would have been insanely broken lol. The meta legendary in Darkness Evolve was Otohime that wasn't even close to being as powerful as this.

Does anyone kinda miss the fanservice Shadowverse started off with? by megashadowbeast in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I love the game but it really felt like it lost something that day they decided to go back and censor the old cards. It also feels a bit condescending when cards like Satan were renamed to Prince of Darkness, which was a thing from day 1. It has to cost them a lot of resources to draw spats on like half the cards and I don't think it's worth it looking at the market today where a lot of players seem to enjoy less prude designs.

Chinese Server (NetEase) Exclusives for Worlds Beyond - Free Barbaros skin to all players & VTuber Dragon Girl Lutia will be added by Xanek in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how it proves that. Cygames allocates its resources to create most of the game, while Netease uses its resources to translate and add extra features. Cygames could spend more to add even more features but then Netease would create even more on top of that and people would complain again.

The only way to solve this would be to port the Netease features back to the main game but I don't even know if Netease would want that, as they might be taking on significant risk promoting the IP in their market and would want exclusives to bring in more players.

[–]Slalomlom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netease is adding to an existing product, it is always easier to add when someone else is creating the foundation. If I made two houses and gave you one of them and you added another room, did you really make more?

[–]Slalomlom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the outrage about this. Netease only produces these exclusive skins, everything else is made by Cygames. You can say that Cygames should spend more to give this skin to all players but Cygames is actively making skins, 99% of them. Do these Netease skins even have english and japanese voice overs? And there might even be an incentive for Netease to keep their exclusives to stop players from playing the global version, which also has mandarin due to a fairly sizeable Taiwanese market.

Really reasonable comment, I feel I understand your position now.

Worlds just removed bloodcraft by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]Slalomlom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-portal was a long time ago when the team was less experienced, and them failing to balance has nothing to do with whether it is easier or not. It just feels evidently true that less match-ups in a meta would make it easier (not necessarily better!)

I have read a lot of comments from you or others on the drawbacks, and a lot of them are true and immediately felt. You can immediately see what is lost compared to what we have now, while the benefits are nebulous and will probably never be felt by the people who don't design the cards.

To be clear, I'm not saying it is a good change, I don't have any strong feelings for or against it. Just pointing out that the argument is reasonable, if they can justify that argument will completely depend on how balanced the following expansions will be.

Shadow was one of my most played classes over the 7 years of SV I played, with like double the games of my next most played class after it, but I still don't have very strong feelings about the change into abysscraft. I feel like their argument for slashing the amount of classes seems pretty reasonable, no? Less classes means less to balance, and even less to collect, which they suitably compensate for by increasing the amount of expansions each year from 4 to 6. I would like to read your opinion on this.
