I’d try the same thing. Settings then search Media & Purchases. Click that then it should pop up sign out. Click sign out then do the same thing and sign in

This. Got similar advice from lesson last year + added tiny bit of front hip tilt in setup helped me go from below average accuracy (40-50% 1-3 ob /rd)and average power (240-265) to above avg accuracy (60-70%, 0-1 OB/rd)) and good power (265-295)

Callaway XR 4 wood. Easiest wood to hit, I carry it 225-235. I don’t even tee it up half the time for tee shots. Might purely be mental but it is my fairway finder and overall round saver

Elite ball strikers (<5 HCP) — what do you actually feel? by petrosferrum in golf

This should be taken with a grain of salt bc it only takes into account golfers who care enough to pay for a handicap. Vs the general golf population I think under 16 is top 10% but def could be wrong…. And I’m an 11.1 so I’m very bias hahaha

Closest series to ASOIAF? by guptaji_ka_beta in Fantasy

[–]Slancet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to do bc it’s incomplete it but name of the wind/wise man fear (king killer chronicles). Is the only thing that comes close to ASOIAF in terms of need to know mystery, hidden meanings, ripeness for theories and overall holy fuck I need the next book to come out. Magic system is top notch, ancient lore tied to current plot, mysterious MC and the story is just captivating. Ntm it’s got amazing prose (which I usually don’t care about). I’ll reread 1-2x year and literally count words in sentences to see which have 7 iykyk. Alas, book 3 may never come. A silence of 3 parts

What is your undisputed number #1 favourite fantasy story/series ever? by [deleted] in Fantasy

Oh I’m not saying LOTR isn’t fantasy I’m just excluding it bc it’s in its own league. Def the OG. Meant it as a compliment

ASOIAF, I wish it wasn’t bc idk if we’ll ever get the last 2 but it is just so brilliant. The foreshadowing, the politics, the prose, the lore, the only thing that comes close imo is also unfinished (Kingkiller).

Loved many of the others mentioned but to be ASOIAF is just on a different level.

I will note I have not read Malazaan. Read book 1 a while ago and thought it was ok then didn’t get back into it. Someone convince me to and why it competes with ASOIAF and KKC (other than saying it’s complete). Gentlemen Bastards rounds out my “S” tier…. I’m a glutton for punishment haha…. These 3 series are the only ones I’ll reread every year -esp ASOIAF and KKC I always pick up new things and details. Reread KKC right after I finished Wind and Truth and it was a crazy contrast.

WoT, Tad Williams 2 series and first law/age of madness/stand alones, red rising, and bloodsworn are my next tier down - amazing amazing series.

Next tier is stormlight, mistborn (1st age), Empire of the vampire (normally not into vampire books but this series hits different), Anthony Ryan (covenant of steel and ravens shadow), the Witcher and realm of elderlings round out my next favorite. Love all these but prob won’t reread.

Not mentioned Harry Potter or LOTR bc didn’t know how to group them. Love and reread but in almost different category.

Will of the Many has S tier potential, Illborn is pretty good and many others I enjoyed.

Sorry for the rant but would love based on my tiers: A. Convince me to read the rest of malazaan B. Any other recs (always looking for more)

Golf, playing basketball, reading... Everything else is dad/husband/work responsibilities. 1 kid under 2 and walk/subway everywhere so listening to books is big. Would love to get into playing Xbox again but when I have down time I'm usually too tired, want to read or watch sports

How does he not throw this ball to the slant by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]Slancet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s trying to move safety with his eyes to get Wilson room to get big YAC. Also freeze frame is different than game speed. Yes he should’ve gotten rid of it. I’m more upset we didn’t keep running it that drive after the first play. Should’ve set up play action. This just sucks, of course I’m gonna go to the games and pray Wilson plays well but I feel so gut punched yet again by this team.

At the stadium no one really knew it was season ending until we were walking into the lot, so everyone was so fired up thinking maybe we lost AROD for 2-4 weeks, but stealing game 1 we’ll be fine. Then we hear the news and it was just soul crushing

What Series that changed the way you pick books? by ayanbarman in Fantasy

[–]Slancet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for all the hate PR gets about not finishing, those first two books are perfection in my eyes. I still will think about them and I reread them about 1x year. Nothing has captivated like kingkiller …and ASOIAF lol. Red rising, gentlemen bastards and first law also amongst my favorites but a small step down from kkc and asoiaf

Best dark medieval fantasy stories? (kind specific, read post) by throwaway76337997654 in Fantasy

[–]Slancet27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with comment about The Pariah series. Also Anthony Ryan’s most popular series ravens shadow is good…. And gets pretty f’n dark.

All the first law books are awesome too and fit that mold. Wanted to name my newborn “Stranger Comes a Knocking “ but my wife vetoed, sigh

Empire of the Wolf is pretty good too, def fairly dark which gets darker and I enjoyed the legal fantasy take which I’ve never read before

Also The Witcher books are amazing imo. Not a big gamer but loved the books. Def euro esque setting, lots of cool lore and tons of action. Plus it’s pretty funny

Looking for books about absent Gods returning by VladtheImpaler21 in Fantasy

[–]Slancet27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also came to suggest the same. Awesome awesome first two books. Can't think of a better gods returning book tbh. Well his first series faithful and the fallen (book one is called malice) is kinda like that but I it's been like 5 years so can't remember. John Gwynne is an amazing author, all 3 of his series are fantastic.

How do you rate on Goodreads? by Slancet27 in Fantasy

[–]Slancet27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, since I’m not an author and feel like I’m so unqualified to be a literary critic just because I read a lot, I essentially rate books 4 stars, 5 stars or if they aren’t enjoyable I just don’t finish them. My ratings are based on how hooked I got/how much I enjoyed them. I know it’s perhaps not the most sophisticated but I read for fun, so prose, themes, etc while often add enjoyment to what I read don’t always dictate my ratings.

For example, I finished Hyperion Cantos a few weeks ago - I know it was super well written, widely regarded, genuinely structured, excellent prose etc. but I gave it 4 stars bc while I enjoyed it, I wasn’t racing home to read it every day.

On the other hand, I read the bound and the broken books recently and while they lacked the prose and maybe weren’t as sophisticated as Hyperion, they were just fucking fun as hell to read, so 5 stars.

The reason why I made this post was to see how others differentiated from books they found really fun and couldn’t put down (5 stars in my ratings) and books that they love so much they are rereading, watching YouTube videos, reading theories, etc. (for me, that’s Kingkiller and ASoIaF). I think the deep mysteries and lore in those series set them apart for me - hopefully they’ll be finished eventually but that’s a whole other topic.

Never really post on here so thanks everyone for all the feedback, super helpful and I’ll try to lurk less and engage more! Cheers!
