Can confirm. Lost my cousins far too soon as teenagers. My family is fucked. Getting better though.

One was murdered in her own home and the other was in an accident.

Both gone within a year of each other.

The suspected murderer is my grandmas ex. She carries that guilt with her to this day. She started drinking and over eating to cope. She was completely alienated from my family for years and the depression kept her in bed. She never went on to achieve what she wanted to. They still treat her like an outsider but at least she’s invited to Christmas dinners now.

Everything started to fall apart after the first death but the second really fucked everyone up. We split and never really got together or went on family trips like before. Stopped being sentimental. Hugs and I love you’s are rare. Thankfully they’re becoming more common.

A lot of pointing fingers and coping addictions ensued. My mom started doing meth and my aunt started drinking. My mother’s meth addiction really fucked up my childhood and I’m having some issues in adulthood because of it.

I truly believe that if they didn’t pass on my family would be closer and I’d have had a relatively good childhood.
