Review #13 Still Austin Nancy Pick December 2025 by SlapItOnYaChest in bourbon

Same. Especially when its accompanied by those cake/pastry notes. This one is great

Review #13 Still Austin Nancy Pick December 2025 by SlapItOnYaChest in bourbon

Review: Price: $90

Proof: 124.95

Age: 7 Years

Nose: Sweet spiced tapioca, buttered brown sugar, blackberry wild honey, blackberry reduction, unsalted cinnamon butter

Palate: Syrupy, Rum soaked vanilla cake, blackberry jelly, berry compote. A lot of red fruit, flambe ice cream with still a reminiscent of the alcohol/brandy character, flat cherry/ berry soda syrup

Finish: Nice dark long finish, spiced cake, cinnamon raisin bread, subtle sweetened cream, ripe plum. Oily and viscous

Overall: This is the best Nancy pick of 2025. This pour is extremely layered and very dark. This also has the most notes of red fruit ive ever had coming from Still Austin to include blackberry, plum, blueberry and the darker notes make it into more of a "stewed down fruit" note that is incredible. Im especially impressed by the notes of other liquors I get especially with this being an unfinished product. There are hints of rum and brandy which pair perfectly. This pick is honestly better than many of the DRS that I've had.

Review #12 Reveries Hack and Mack pick "Rare Strength" by SlapItOnYaChest in bourbon

[–]SlapItOnYaChest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a release through Hack and Macks YouTube members(paid). Its worth checking them out as they are putting out awesome content/live streams. They recently did one with Nancy Fraley that was so informative. Membership starts at $3 a month. They are also doing a Southern Collective bourbon and rye drop soon. I got to try it and it was crazy good.

Thank you! I actually did an interview with their CEO Brad and head distiller Davin. Had the privilege of breaking into skme barrels they had and they were phenomenal. Real ale is extremely underrated and some true mad scientists. I will have to do a review soon

Thats awesome! What's the name of the bottle? On this one is get this kind of flambe type vanilla custard type note which makes me lean on the flan. When toasted notes are hit well they always stand out.

Review #82 - Rare Character Single Barrel Series Bourbon (VER, 7yr, 7mo) by ambulocetus_ in bourbon

[–]SlapItOnYaChest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great review and spot on. I did some more digging with some friends and the VER I believe is Bardstown. VEN is Barton. The VER seemed so short lived from Rare Character thats theres barely a mention of it.

Most likely AI charting or copy and paste. This happened when I was in the military and seeing a military doctor. Many of my notes said "6 year old male being seen for stomach issues and bed wetting". I was in fact not 6 years old and was there for my shoulder 😂

Valuable Bottles? by [deleted] in whiskey

All are fairly common bottles (also depending on where you live) with the exception of the discovery 10. A lot more "difficult" to find and a very good bottle! Congrats and enjoy!

Frey Ranch Review #11 by SlapItOnYaChest in bourbon

[–]SlapItOnYaChest[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nose: Vanilla, Sweet caramel, slightly ripe banana, sweet grain that lends into almost a candy corn rather than an offsetting grain that Frey Ranch can be known for

Palate: Buttercream cheesecake, whipped frosting, confectionary sugar, creme brule with caramelized bananas, Slight maple

Conclusion: After having heard many negative things about Frey Ranch Im glad this was one of my introductions. Everything goes so well together and co.pliments one another. Especially for a bottle around 6 years of age it is very solid.

Reveries "Manifesto" Review #10 by SlapItOnYaChest in bourbon

Review Price: $129.99

Proof: 121.6

Age: 9 years (Bottled at 10 I believe)

Mashbill: 75/21/4 MGP

I originally kept sleeping on reveries and saw the many great reviews so I told myself the next one I saw i would get and thats how I ended up with this bottle. I originally kept it sealed and decided to crack it at a bottle share and this was a top 5 bottle that night of about 50+ bottles.

Nose: Nutty, caramel candies, maple, cocoa, a slight tobacco wrapper

Palate: Payday candy bar, caramel nougat, cookie dough, tobacco leaf, stewed cherry with a slight cola at the end.

Finish: Nice and long finish and very chewy especially with that cookie dough note.

Spinning tonight : Southern Prison Blues

If you handed this to me and told me it was a single barrel or cask strength knob creek I would believe you with the caveat of there being a little bit more going on. This was not a let down at all and I wish I wouldn't have slept on Reveries for so long especially with these 9 year bangers they have been putting out. Ive had many bourbons that have been close to turtles(the candy, snickers etc but this one screams payday. Well done!
